Hey All,
I aM floored. I just received notice from GA Board of Nursing that they denied the endorsement of my MN RN license because I did not meet clinical practice requirements . When I called the board, they transferred me to a their Legal Nurse Consultant who stated that effective July 1, 2008 GA would no longer endorse RN license from Excelsior College students with no previous RN experience. She suggested that I go to my licensed state and work for a while then try again, but she could not give me a time frame.
Has anyone else experienced this. I thought we should at least have gotten some sort of notice/warning before this type of rule be adopted by the board. I am going to file a motion for reconsideration using an Attorney. Before I entered Excelsiors program I called GA Board to verify acceptance. I had been accepted to a traditional LPN to RN bridge program; I could have been almost finished their too. I am so sad right now. I have been crying for two days. I think I will need to see my doctor for Zoloft.
I have been an LPN for over 13 years doing Med/Surg for at least 10. I work on a hospital unit right now. THIS IS SO UNFAIR!!!:banghead:
Zoe I know none of us like the way things are going now.....I just keep praying that they will allow enrolled students to be grandfathered in but at this point I'm not sure that it will ever happen.....At this point I am exploring my options and I guess Sept 18 will be the big determiner.
I'm ready to move on either way. Either with EC even if it means leaving my beloved state; or with ISU. I AM determined to become an RN.
A large number of people will be attending the meeting in Macon on thursday. Two student have been selected to address the board and EC reps will be speaking as well as the Georgia Nurses Association. It is my understanding that several goverment officials have contacted the GBON regarding their decision and the GBON has assured them that they are working to resolve this matter (whatever that means). We are hoping for the best, they say we should know their decision by Friday? I'm not going to hold my breathe. Will post the decision as soon as we know it. Wish us luck!! Any news on Virginia yet??????
I was looking at the VA BON web site today to see if there was anything new for them. I noticed that their original "nastygram" stated that their decision would apply to EC students who haven't completed the program by Dec 09. At least they have some transition plan. GA BON just slashed our throats and walked away. (Sorry to be graphic but when you're talking about having to uproot families, sell houses, change your whole life...it feels almost that dramatic!) Here's hoping for good news Virginians!
I spoke with my representative at length last week regarding HB1041 (he actually co-sponsored it). Quite honestly it doesn't seem he is getting straight answers from the BON either and he has even gone so far as to contact local hospitals regarding the numbers of EC grads they employ ect... Unfortuantely I will not be able to attend thurs as I'm scheduled for a 12hr in Vascular but I really hope this is all resolved. I would love to send off my application for the CPNE!
I was told by a fellow student that EC said that it is unlikely that we will not be allowed inside the meeting room Thursday in Macon because of the size of the room and the number of people to attend. EC has only 30 mins to present their case and that time will be divided by all the other groups that are there to speak as well. Now I am wondering if I should drive 2 hours to stand outside or stay home and study for my boards???
I was wondering the same thing!!!!! I have a three hour drive to macon and if we can't even go in the room then what is the point!!! Gas is to expensive to not even get to hear what is said! If anyone has any info on this please let me know so I don't waste my time driving 3 hours when I could be studying. THANKS!!
