On average?
I have never been full time -only casual and PT and I don't think I have ever been ill. BUT I am curious with working full time, if people are ill more? I would imagine so.
I maybe average 3-5 days a year for myself but have taken more to be off with my husband for his various illnesses. I still maintain close to 200 hours of sick time. Our union contract prevents management from doing anything to you unless you're in "lost time"(i.e., no sick time on the books available). Those in lost time avoid discipline by using FMLA.
wow! you guys are awesome!
i'm not doing so well. i had shingles in november, took 3 days off because i was sick and another two because employee health wouldn't clear me to go back to work.
in january, my father died and i flew back to the midwest for three weeks to deal with my father's death and the fact that he was taking care of mom who has alzheimer's and now someone else (that would be me) needed to take care of her until we could get her into assisted living.
in april, the ibs kicked up and in may i had an allergic reaction to something and had to take a day off because my hands and feet were swollen and itching. (i was so miserable i took vistaril for the itching and then slept 20 hours a day for three days.) and tomorrow morning i'm having some biopsies under general. if all goes well and the biopsies are ok, hopefully i'll be back to work in thursday. if not . . . .
wish me luck!
