Hello, everyone!
Since I have not seen one started on this site, I thought I would go ahead and get the ball rolling. This thread is for anyone hoping to get into FSCJ's Nursing Program for the term starting in the Summer of 2014.
Hello Everyone! I'm Rigena, I am also finishing up my re requirement classes to apply for the nursing program, I will be applying in September, I am finishing up AP1, Chemistry and humanities.
I have been doing great in my classes but i am very nervous about Microbiology and AP 2 this summer.
My Grades are
BSC2085C= (Taking now, will probably be getting an A)
BSC2086C= (Taking in the summer of 2014)
MCB2010C= (Also taking the summer)
MAC1105= A
Humanities: Probably pass with an A
DEP 2004= A
ENC1101= A
PSY1012= A
SYG2000= A
Chemistry= Definitely making an A
I am trying my hardest to maintain all A's so it can help my score
Can anyone give me any tips for the NAT test?
I heard you have to make at least 200 to be considered but my friend made a 177 and got into the program in her first try.

Hello Rigena, if you keep doing everything you're doing, you should be able to get into the program easily.
As far as preparing for the exam, there really isn't a set in stone way of studying for it. What helped me was to reading a lot, reviewing basic math skills, and reviewing the main concepts in A&P, chemistry, and a tiny bit of biology.
The questions they ask on the NAT are very basic, except for the nonverbal portion. You basically need to understand spelling rules and to be able to think critically. Read, read, and read some more!
I personally believe you will be just fine. Take care.
Hey guys just wanted to do an update, I just took the NAT this morning and was a bit disappointing. I got an overall score of 78.25..is that really bad? Its my first time ever taking it and I felt extremely overwhelmed. I scored the poorest on Arithmetic which comes to no surprised because I despise math. Reading comp was fairly easy and was able to score above average percentile. While on Natural Science I also did pretty well. The one that was a BIG challenge was the Aptitude section, those questions are so tricky! Plus with time running I felt like I was about to have a seizure! The Spelling portion was tricky as well, made me realize how I need to go over it a lot more. Is my score of 78.25 low? I do have another chance of taking the NAT before the June 1st deadline so that makes me feel a lot better.
Your NAT score is 78.25/120, which is like 65% of the points you could get. It really only matters if you have not done well in your prerequisites. Either you do Ok on both, or great on one or the other. If you do great on both you are golden and poorly on both, than you may need to retake.

Not everybody tests well, don't beat yourself up! I don't really know what people typically score on the NAT, did you make sure to compute it correctly? The spelling portion is tricky but don't waste your time because it doesn't count towards your points for the program. Take it again when you can and I have heard that if you turn in both sets of scores they will take the best of each section. What do your grades look like?
I took Nicole Finch. She does nights at south campus. She is really down to earth. I got an A...which I was terrified of taking micro. Lol. But I really enjoyed her class.
Thanks guys, i heard you take the NAT test two times because the first time nobody knows what to expect. Am i allowed to take i now, if so how long to i have to waiy until i take it again, i saw my advisor today but i forgot to ask him this question
