  1. Random question guys. I'm aware that it takes four terms and two years to earn an AS in nursing. However, is it possible to finish sooner? As in if I took summers as well will I be able to finish the program in less time?
  2. Congrats on everybody who got in! And those who are still waiting, don't stress! I spoke with Angie (front desk lady) and she said that the nursing packets could take up til' the first week of August. You guys still have time! :) I got my acceptance packet on Friday and immediately went on and got finger printed for the background check, urinalysis for drug screen, gathered all my shot records, scheduled a physical exam at Carespot on Southside Blvd right next to Tinseltown (Costs 50$) I have a question though, my shot records indicate that I was already vaccinated for MMR (Measles-Mumps-Rubella), so do I still need to get a titer for it?
  3. BTW guys is there somebody I can talk to in person at North Campus? Like a nursing counselor or director, etc? I really need to know the dates...
  4. I REALLY need to know the orientation and starting day so that I can move my flight dates accordingly :-/. Last year my friend got her acceptance letter 6 weeks after turning in her application, and she applied for fall term as well, so I don't know what's taking them so long... I'm thinking of moving my flight dates, and instead of flying Aug 10-25, I'd fly Aug6- Aug17 (12 days) Do you guys think that's a safe change? Cause lets say if Nursing classes start August 25th and orientation is usually a week before (Mon Aug 18th). I'd be arriving back to The U.S a day before orientation....
  5. And how many usually get in out of the 300-400 students?
  6. Wow, so orientation really is mandatory :-/ How many days is orientation? Is it always a week before class starts?
  7. I called the airline and they said that I could move the date, but there would be a 300$ penalty per ticket. Thats way too much money. 1)Is there someone else I could speak with besides Mrs. James? 2) Is orientation only a day or is it multiple days? 3) Is orientation really mandatory?
  8. Hey Beatrice! In all honesty, very worried about the situation I'm in :-/. I'm going to South America for 15 days (Aug 10-Aug25) to visit my sick grandmother and because of this I'll probably be missing the orientation and first day. **That's if I get into the program of course, however after informing myself about the cuttoffs my chances of getting in are high** I'm horrified of being taken out of the nursing program, I worked my a** off to finally get the chance to apply for it. I called the airlines many times to cancel my flight/get a refund but they say it isn't possible. I either fly or lose all the money I paid for (the tickets were veryyy expensive). What can I do in this case? Any suggestions? Has any of you guys been or know of someone in a similar situation? Thank you!
  9. Are there any other nursing guidance counselors in North Campus I can talk to besides Mrs. James? Spoke with her on the phone a few times before and she never clearly answered the questions I had. Also is orientation only a day? Thank you!
  10. Thank you but you're confusing me here, first you tell me that missing first day isn't too bad, later on you state that missing the first day/orientation is mandatory and if I don't attend I'm expelled. My trip is from Aug 10th and I return to the United States August 25th at 4 pm. I tried calling Cheryl James multiple times and left her voicemails but she hasn't returned my calls. Is there someone else I can talk to regarding this matter? Thank you!

  12. Now I'm EXTREMELY worried  I actually moved the flight dates and will be back on August 25, thus I'd only be missing the first day of class......now that's **IF**the nursing program follows the fscj calendar. Does anyone know exactly when the first day of fall 2014 nursing school starts ? Also is it true that you can only miss two days each semester??
  13. Another question, I'll be out of the country from August 8th til the 31st. Thus I'll be missing the first 5-6 days of class (That's if I get in the program of course). Will there be a problem? Will they drop me from the program if I miss the first week??
  14. Thanks Beatrice! Thanks for being such a good sport and answering all our doubts and questions, you are Awesome!
  15. Update guys: So I took the NAT last Wednesday and I did a WHOLE lot better than before. I was able to raise my score up from 78 to 95 points , although I would've preferred to score in the 100s range I'm still glad I was able to do much better this time around. I already completed my application and went to North Campus to turn it in last week as well. I'm applying with 202 points, so I'm really hoping I get in, fingers crossed!!!!! PS: Does somebody know what date the fall program starts?
