Hello, everyone!
Since I have not seen one started on this site, I thought I would go ahead and get the ball rolling. This thread is for anyone hoping to get into FSCJ's Nursing Program for the term starting in the Summer of 2014.
"Your NAT score is 78.25/120, which is like 65% of the points you could get. It really only matters if you have not done well in your prerequisites. Either you do Ok on both, or great on one or the other. If you do great on both you are golden and poorly on both, than you may need to retake."
Yeah, I'm definitely retaking it. I'm so disappointed but at least I have a second chance to prove myself. It does put me in a lot of pressure now on getting really good grades this semester, and I'm taking really hard classes (AP2, Micro and my College Algebra which is my third attempt ). I was hoping the NAT would lift some weight of my shoulders :-(
Not everybody tests well, don't beat yourself up! I don't really know what people typically score on the NAT, did you make sure to compute it correctly? The spelling portion is tricky but don't waste your time because it doesn't count towards your points for the program. Take it again when you can and I have heard that if you turn in both sets of scores they will take the best of each section. What do your grades look like?Which sections do they really take in account? I'm confused as to why would they test you on a bunch of stuff, then only take in account certain portions of the test? Is the Arithmetic section important? Because I did HORRIBLE on it.
In regards to my grades:
A&P 1= A
A&P 2= (Taking it now, doing well so far. Probably will get an A)
MCB2010C= (Taking it now as well. Probably A or B)
MAC1105= (Taking it now at UNF -____- Probably B)
Humanities= A
DEP 2004= A
ENC1101= B
PSY1012= A
SYG2000= B
Chemistry= A
Next time I take the NAT I want to know exactly what parts are taken into account and focus on those, any recommendations on study guide books?
Who are you taking MCB2010c with? Your grades are excellent so far, for the NAT i heard that its just basic common sense questions.

To calculate your score add your raw scores from Academic Aptitude + Information in the Natural Sciences + Reading Comprehension; then multiply this number by .64.
I am not really sure why FSCJ doesn't just adapt the test for what they want instead of making us sit through the whole thing.... I am pretty sure arithmetic does count because I think it is included in the Academic aptitude.
I know the school suggests a book, ARCO something, maybe the math section in the book can help you.
I think they use the other sections as a means for differentiating candidates that have the same amount of points in the main sections. For example, if there were two students that had a total of 105 points each on the NAT, the student with a higher vocational score would probably be chosen.
That's just my theory.

Not to sound rude, but it seems like if making it into the nursing program is your passion, you should have already researched all these questions you have on the Fscj website, or spoken to a counselor. You generally seem worried about your progress but know nothing about the program. For your own sake, I would look into what requirements are required of me through the school before I try to apply. This is definitely the place to be for support and questions, but judging from your last 8 posts, it doesn't seem as if you have read either thro
ugh the Fscj summer 2014 hopefuls or the Fscj nursing page. Better to be prepared for yourself, especially in a field like nursing.

If this is towards me i would like to say that nursing is andbalways has been a passion of mine, i know all of my requirements but i wanted to know a bit about the NAT if there are any areas to study and what teacher would anyone recommend for MCB, i have researched everything about the nursing program but it doesn't hurt to read others experiences and opinions.

Im sorry i thought this was for me until i saw the TO,
For everyone else who may construe my message incorrectly,
Like I said, I am not trying to be rude, but from past experiences of mine in the military, it is best in a very important situation like this, in which can change your life and many are passionate about, to know what you are trying to accomplish. Then when you understand your objectives, which are clearly explained in the nursing section of fscj's website, and you still have questions that are unexplained, this is the place to get answers. I am just trying to help by supporting self independence for the obvious questions. After saying that, I know it sounds like I'm being a d***, but I am not.

That was for Anestesia, not you.
