Ok, I know we should be frugal after we graduate and invest in retirement, pay off debt and student loans, etc. However, for a little fun, what kinds of things do you look forward to buying after you graduate and are working as a nurse?
For me: a Dyson vacuum cleaner ($500) and a set of NARS blushes ($200), the best blush on the planet. I've also been fixated on buying a Mini Cooper:
I suspect I'll buy the Dyson and NARS, but the Mini Cooper may just not be a good financial choice.
So what do you all want to buy?
I'm reading some of these posts and they seem a little far-fetched. Traveling all over europe? New houses? Luxury cars? An RN salary isn't going to do that for you :*(.
Please don't attack me! I'm not trying to pi$$ on anyone's parade. I just don't want any of you to be disappointed once you start working and see how much uncle sam is going to take from your paycheck.

Once again, someone raining on our parade ! lol Even If I can't buy all the fancy things, being a nurse is priceless :heartbeat
Atleast uncle sam can't away my education and compassion gained from nursing.

The thread drifts back and forth between "what I'll buy when I'm a nurse, after graduation" to "when I win the lottery," which is fine. We are just blabbing. Speaking for myself, I started this thread when I felt particularly constrained with my finances. A little fun.
That said, we soon-to-be new grads might need to adjust our expectations. Due to the economy, we may not get the incentives recent new grads received in some geographic areas. I'm thinking things like sign on bonuses will no longer be offered, and wages will stagnate.
About the Europe thing. Europe can be done relatively inexpensively, especially if you are young and willing to stay at hostels like some of my friends have done. One of my plans is to do one of the Rick Steves Europe tours every few years. You can do one Europe tour for less than $3000. We all have different responsibilities, goals and priorities. Since I don't have debt besides student loans, don't have children and don't plan on ever having children, I will probably be able to afford a trip to Europe now and then.

someone must don't work hard enough... because for an example my mother is a RN and has been one for over 30 years... and growing up i had the best of everything... i had a vehicle riding back and forth to high school before i even had a license... and i mean a new car... not a bucket... also, my mother owns 3 properties, on a RN salary, and other luxury things... as well as going on 2 cruises a year, and vacations continuously... so that is FALSE...
work hard and you can accomplish your goal...
listening to negativity and views of others don't matter...
i live in Florida, so the money here for a nurse is an overflow $$$ i mean big bucks...
so it all depends on where you live in the continent and how bad a company needs you...

Planning and saving is the key...
i have 3 kids and a husband... i have surfed the web and found great deals for cruises and family vacations to where ever i want to go...
i don't and won't have any situation hold me back...
People need a mind set of determination... motivation... drive!!!
No kids, no job, or nobody can keep me from doing or traveling where i want to go!!! Blessed i am... and God monitor my steps... and make everything possible!!
I would love to be able to take a day and go skiing or snowboarding with my friends. Its hard now because im not at the pay raise i want in order to be a little spontaneous with my money. And i would love to have my own home because i am tired of paying rent with no investment.
i hate cold weather, but skiing sounds soo fun!!! if i was the type that love snow, and cold winds, then i would definitely do something of that nature... but i just want to see some tropical islands, and jet ski, and scuba dive... but although rent sucks... so does a mortgage now a days... banks are tired of loosing money... so the housing market where i am is better right now, so homes are cheap at first, but the mortgages keep rising... slowly but surely...
