NCLEX review books/CD???
I am sorry to hear that but do not give up! I am currently using Saunders and i have to agree with previous posts that it is the most comprehensive thus far that i have tried. The key is know your weaknesses when it comes to taking the test. And when you review the questions really look at what they are asking you. That was my biggest obstacle was trying to read through the fluff and get to the bulk of what they were asking (i.e. implementation, assessment, etc.). Whatever guides you use, believe in yourself. We are our own worst critics. Take some time to regroup and start studying again after identifying what will work for you. You will pass. Believe in yourself..and dont give up!! Good luck...

what's the next step after i fail my nclex?
I also did not pass NCLEX. It is frustrating. But the key is to find what works for you in regards to studying and give yourself enough time to study. I rushed it my first time. Took it like 3 weeks after graduation after self-studying. I wasnt ready and rushed myself. That is the best advice i can give. Dont give up! And good luck...

Can't pass my NCLEX and need a job!
Please dont give up! Im not. And i am trying Suzannes plan. Finishing the first tip right now and shoud be starting with the second part soon. Dont give up! You got through the hardest part..nursing school. I know its hard to pick yourself back up and retake it. Ive been there and alot of people here have too. You can do it. Just go at your own pace and DO NOT be negative with yourself! You WILL pass!!!

Nurses & Emergency Scenes
I have come up on a couple of scenes. Having been in the ER for almost 4 years I have come to respect that we all have our jobs to do..both in the field and in the ER. I am friends with alot of EMS personnel and Firefighters. I have rolled up on a scene prior to any EMS arrival but once they get there im gone. They are specifically trained in that area and i respect that fully. Just like when they pass off the victims to me in my ER they know they have done their job..and now its my turn. It is most definitely a show of respect as well as safety for the victims on scene. To those who are first responders...you guys/gals rock!

Can anyone explain the reason?
Hmmm..did they offer a rationale for the answer? Because its not like they gave you a set of vitals to work off of to compare with improvement. So..that is weird.

IM LOSING HOPE...

Too discouraged to try again
I know it is frustrating. I did not pass NCLEX either. But...the people on here have been great and very supportive. I was recommended to try Suzannes plan and i am planning on it for the next test date. Please dont give up! I had my ER director tell me that some of the best nurses he has ever worked with did not pass NCLEX the first..or even the second time. That several attempts were made. I have also spoke to many who were LPNs and PN prior to taking the exam and believe that being in the field makes it more difficult to pass sometimes because we think more hands on...rather than textbook. Just a thought.... But please..dont give up. I know its hard and frustrating. Stay positive!

? for ER nurses
I agree with kmoonshine. Working in the ER, that is very similar to the scenarios we see. Patients will present a certain way and just by looking at them you can detect which ones need to be rushed back and those that can wait for a room. Kids are tricky as they can decompensate quickly. But keeping a vigil eye on them and monitoring their sats until they can be seen is key. I am glad your son is feeling better.

For Fun - Things You Want to Buy Once You're a Nurse
I would love to be able to take a day and go skiing or snowboarding with my friends. Its hard now because im not at the pay raise i want in order to be a little spontaneous with my money. And i would love to have my own home because i am tired of paying rent with no investment.

Why coffee with every meal?
I never understood this either. I work in the ER and see it basically served with every tray i order. i dont get it either. i will see it also with cardiac patients too. they will ask for it and if tests are still pending we will hold it per ER doc but most of the time it is allowed. weird...

Crocs Specialist - experiences?
I have two pairs of Crocs and dont have a problem with them. I work in the ER and sometimes i have a tendency to slip in them when running around but..that could just be me..lol.

RN Residency/ New Grad program contracts
I agree with Sbyram. When i was a new grad, i did lots of research on new grad residency programs in Denver. No where did i come across a contract outlined as such. There were a few that wanted a time commitment (i.e. 1 year), but no financial responsibility or penalty was involved if time commitment wasnt fulfilled. It appeared more to me as a safety net for the facility. I know one of my friends was in a new grad residency and signed a one year commitment after the completion of the residency. She had a family emergency and had to leave the state. The only thing the facility told her was her ineligibility for rehire. So..tell her to keep looking. Dont give up!

Is This Ethical?
I agree with Classicdame. I think it would have been good to have given stepmom and especially dad a heads up on what was given, when, etc. so as to watch for any possible reactions/allergies. Other than that, as my fellow posters have stated, it is legal and ethical for an RN to administer.
