The manager and other coordinator and I are going in together for a catered dinner. We are getting baked chicken breasts, porificely potatoes, green beans and pasta, with a tossed salad. I am also planning on making a ham, scalloped potatoes and beans for them on Christmas day, for my shift.(3-11) I mean, it is bad enough you gotta be at work on Christmas day, I think it is terrible you have to eat cafeteria food too, lol. So what do you think, would you appreciate it?

Who would not appreciate that. Sounds like there will be a ton of food. Thats always been my favorite part of working holidays- Everyone brought some special thing they made and I have learned so many good holiday foods. One of my favorites was a sweet-potato/pecan dish, just great.
I'd feel so supported by my manager if she showed up with anything on the holidays!!!

I would have dropped dead from the shock if that happened at my job. Last year I had vending machine food for Xmas since the cafeteria was closed.

i think that's a fabulous idea! and it will mean more, coming from "the bosses."
when i worked at deaconess hospital in spokane, washington holiday meals (even for the 1900 - 0730 shift) were served to the staff by the management team -- from the ceo on down to the nurse managers. while the staff was working out who was going to work christmas, the administration was figuring out who was going to serve dinner to which shift on which holiday. i have never felt so appreciated in any other job!

YES!!!! Food is most appreciated by this nurse as well as those on my unit!!! I think your nurses will be most grateful that you've thought of them in this way. It's very thoughtful of you indeed.
Happy holidays!
