Me too LOL and it wasn't for lack of trying!! :uhoh3:

Specializes in Ante-Intra-Postpartum, Post Gyne.

I got hired into OB. Yes, its why I went to nursing school. I worked hard for it too. I don't have your average resume and I made sure of that.

I was hired in Labor and Delivery....very stressfulk but I love it.

I'm another GN going into NICU. Anything else would have been a disappointment.

Specializes in Emergency, Trauma, Critical Care.

Critical care unit, mostly cardiac though, we're a STEMI-designated hospital. Wasn't sure where I wanted to work, but this hospital had a lot of openings in that department and I knew I'd learn a lot.

I don't know what I want to be when I grow up. I refuse to pursue an advanced degree til I find my "niche."

Everyone on my floor says I'm doing really good, but it's definitely not my passion.

Good luck to everyone at their new jobs!

Got hired at a big hospital so their med/surg is separate. I am working on the medical floor, which I wanted for the experience, but would eventually like to go into Peds.

I still have a year and half before I graduate from nursing school with my BSN and my dream is to get a job in the NICU. To all of you that got hired in the NICU if you don't mind will you let me know what hospitals are hiring new grads in the NICU. I still have a while to go before I apply but I am desperate to find out where they are hiring new grads for the NICU. Thanks!

I'll be working at Winnie Palmer in Orlando, FL.

Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC. They have a great 6 month new graduate program. I start in August! Oh and I applied in December, interviewed and was offered the job in January, definitely get a head start

Specializes in Coronary Rehab Unit.

Was hired into our CRU (Cardiac Rehab Unit) ..... dunno if it's the "specialty" I wanted to go into, but cardiac patients are near and dear to my heart - both my parents (and many relatives and friends) have/had heart problems.....I enjoy the floor and my co-workers. Not to mention, the vast majority of my patients are able to do a lot of their own care (BRP, ad lib activity, etc) Makes the night shift easier (no PCTs/CNAs). I DO feel, though, that it is rather specialized, and we only occasionally get pts for other reasons (overflow) - a med-surg floor would give me a lot more experience with a lot more situations, but.... I love my floor.

Specializes in Telemetry.

With so many new grads having difficulties obtaining employment, I made myself a promise that I would accept the first job that I was offered which ended up being telemetry. My dream job would have been either neonatal ICU or CVICU, but overall, I think that tele will be an excellent learning opportunity and I'm thrilled to be starting on Monday! Now if only my NCLEX results would post, then all would be right with the world!
