Thoughts on employer mandatory Flu vaccine...
The 85% who are vaccinated should at least completely review both sides of the coin; NVIC is an excellent organization get a few reviews plus the many EBP studies that are there for the perusal . . . that being said, everyone does have a choice, but the powers that be can make it REALLY tough if you don't go along with the flow (that would be the majority). We should be converted in our own minds without coercion; the basis of a free society. FACT: The Pharmaceutical rakes in BILLIONS of dollars and they never cure anyone. FACT: Everyone I have worked with has gotten a flu shot (except 2) and they have all had a protracted case of the Flu, yet they walk around exposing the patients; they don't call in sick b/c we are already short staffed. The two who have not been vaccinated have not had the flu (for a long time). FACT: They are lowering the standard for infection control where I work; we cannot refuse any patient or block a room until the "higher powers" deems it absolutely necessary. . . we nurses can no longer use the block in advance with known MRSA, for instance. This is because the hospital is in red and we needs MONEY to sustain the power. Its all about money folks, do your homework!! I was once invited attend a PowWow on a Native American Indian Reservation; a wise elderly Native said this to me when discussing the differences in our gov't: YOU AMERICANS DO WHAT IS GOOD FOR THE WHOLE EVEN IF IT DESTROYS THE INDIVIDUAL AND HIS FREEDOMS. . . WE DO WHAT IS GOOD FOR THE INDIVIDUAL AND IT MAKES US STRONG AS A WHOLE. Food for thought . . .
There's no evidence to support that a person WITHOUT a shot is a higher risk . . . period!!
I am not sure where you came up with that, but it is absolutely not true and is not supported by any medical society, nursing society, CDC, or WHO. That is exactly what those influenza effectiveness studies prove over and over again every year.

1. Who says that we haven't reviewed both sides, but when the peer-reviewed scientific evidence is overwhelming in the favor of pro-vaccinaniton then it is time to deal with it, suck it up, and get the vaccine. Otherwise you are just basing decisions on your opinion instead of scientific facts.
2. How many of your friends actually had a flu test to determine if it was the flu after being vaccinated? Even if it was the flu research has shown that having the flu shot will lessen the symptoms of the flu. That is one of the main reasons that it is still recommended for geriatric patients.
3. Oh NO, pharmeceutical companies are making a profit… Your point being since they make a profit that the flu shot isn't effective? That is incorrect and I have posted several studies to show the effectiveness of the flu vaccine. The giant conspiracy by pharmeceutical companies misrepresenting their research is also false, because they are not the ones who sponsor or do the majority of post-marketing research on the flu vaccine. Pharmaceutical companies want to make more long lasting higher profit flu vaccines, because it makes financial sense if it wasn't for government support we would be lucky if any pharmaceutical companies would make the flu vaccine.
"Flu vaccines have not been high-revenue generators for major pharmaceutical companies compared with big-selling drugs for diabetes, heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis and cancer. Vaccines are expensive to make, and the flu can mutate significantly from season to season. In a mild flu season, companies can be left with millions of unsold doses if the flu season is mild."

Clearly there is a huge divide in the medical community. And questioning whether or not this vaccine should be mandated is more than conspiracy talk.
It must be the herd mentality that you are finding so amusing... bahhh
It is funny the animal that falls behind/gets separated from the herd is usually the one that dies in the wild, and the people that don't vaccinate because they don't believe in herd immunity are the ones most likely to get vaccine preventable disease and spread it to others.
In this case I will take the herd mentality as a compliment because it shows that I am following the peer-reviewed scientific evidence. Community Immunity ("Herd Immunity") | Vaccines.gov

I don't know, she's awfully busy spreading the word about how vaccinations are evil and cause autism. And BOOM, we're back on topic of the dangers of vaccinations and how noone should be FORCED to get them!
