Mandatory flu vaccine is becoming more and more standard. I think in the future you're going to have to accept it in the interest of remaining employed.
Now, about your avatar . . . .

The facility I worked at this past fall had a mandatory vaccine. If you didn't get it by the deadline, you had two weeks to get a medical waiver or you lost your job. Period. No masks, no rebuttal, just fired for cause for not meeting job requirements.

I work in Canada, and do not *think it is legal to make it mandatory? We only have a 40% staff vaccination rate, i think its about 30% in nurses. I know the NICU had less then 10% vaccinated. I don't think it should be mandatory, but do wish more would get it.
I will never understand how someone can work in NICU and not be vaccinated.

Last year it was optional but the nurse had to sign the waiver if they didn't get it. This year it's mandatory or you are fired. Exceptions are those who can prove that they medically cannot get it, such as one RN I work with who is severely allergic to everything.
I agree! I know someone whose NICU preemie almost died from pertussis that she caught in the NICU. They traced it back to a nurse. Several babies got sick from her before they figured out that (a) she was not vaccinated for it and (b) she was coming to work sick.

I totally agree. We were mandated on the flu shot, and recently, they've started mandating a booster for TDAP.

I. got it. Otherwise we have to wear a mask the minute we walk in til we end the shift. Unfortunately I need to work, so I don't refuse

As a nurse who is immunocompromised, I would be horrified to learn that any of my nurses, doctors, or other direct care personnel had not had a flu shot.

Well than you would be severely misinformed. Just because a nurse, doctor, etc.. is vaccinated does not mean they cannot transmit the flu to you.
