After 17 years of being a floor Nurse, a maid , butler, and every dept of the hospital im finally leaving floor nursing. Im moving to the cardiac cath lab. I have never in my life been so happy to be moving on. Even though its no difference in pay it feels like a promotion. After my 17 years of floor nursing i would never recommend it to ANYONE !!! Floor nursing is a good experience for a year or 2 but thats it. The last year i was hating my job more than ever. Floor nursing has changed so much over the last few years. I cant tell you how many times during my day i would be stop by doctors and ask why lab, Physical therapy , resp therapy etc .. didnt come as ordered. The days of being a nurse and nurse only have long gone away.
Congratulation...I know what you mean.I did floor nursing for 11 years and was so happy to transfer to an ambulatory position but now after 9 years of ambulatory, I am ready for a change. Anyway, Good luck to you.
Congrats on the parole I hope all of the best for you. After 15 years of varied BS (uh bedside) jobs I am in the corporate setting now and would cut anybody who tried to drag me back. Have fun !
