Finally leaving floor nursing after 17 years THANK GOD !!!

Published

After 17 years of being a floor Nurse, a maid , butler, and every dept of the hospital im finally leaving floor nursing. Im moving to the cardiac cath lab. I have never in my life been so happy to be moving on. Even though its no difference in pay it feels like a promotion. After my 17 years of floor nursing i would never recommend it to ANYONE !!! Floor nursing is a good experience for a year or 2 but thats it. The last year i was hating my job more than ever. Floor nursing has changed so much over the last few years. I cant tell you how many times during my day i would be stop by doctors and ask why lab, Physical therapy , resp therapy etc .. didnt come as ordered. The days of being a nurse and nurse only have long gone away.

I'm confused.... why did you stay on the unit for 17 years if you really disliked it that much ?

Im not sure. I kinda felt stuck in it with no experience in anything else. Then finally i got a break at the hospital im currently working. I have been talking to the cath lab supervisor for months and finally a positon came open. Luckily the transfer went down without problems. :yeah:
