After a year and a half, and 3 tries later, I start my RN program at St. Johns River State College on August 18th 2014....WOOOHOOOOOO here we gooooo. What an adventure at 43 years old. I have worked as a clinical dialysis technician for 13 years, and for 9 years before that I worked as a firefighter EMT. I am so ready for this next chapter and finally realizing a dream.
UGH!!! We are just starting this journey, we as in my daughter will be a senior and she is looking at colleges all of which are impacted!! Here locally we have four year wait lists and lottery. Most colleges jc or csu in cali require pre req first before you can even get into the ge part. Any suggestions, we are considering changing majors, I say we lol because I will be supporting her five or six year journey at this rate....Tips suggestions, employment while waiting would be great. She has a senior gpa 4.13 exceeds the eligibility index for most colleges and sat scores are average. There are two programs that are taking freshman into the bsn program but they are very compeitive and dont require the TEAS or look at the whole picture. Its strictly elig index and gpa. If by some miracle she gets in she has to maintain her gpa the entire year until pre req are met then goes to a nursing major status. Honestly, is this all worth it...HELP

I wish more people on this site would read your post. I got my ABSN in '07 and starting prereqs in '05 to graduation was very difficult. You have to be willing to take the pain and perservere to get through this. The cool thing is once you get accepted your future is totally in your hands. Getting accepted is one thing you cannot control. Now you control how hard you study and what you accomplish. Great job.
