FCCJ Fall 2008

Published

Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.

I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!

I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!

Best of luck & success to all!!!

the physical was 35 bucks, i think this place is the cheapest to go to and you can get everything done right there...its worth it...plus it was super fast! and as far as stethoscpes my personal opinion already working in the medical field would be if you have the money to invest in a good one, do it, you get what you pay for, im purchasing a littman cardiology because its the bomb, for peds and adults its 135 bucks but you will use it for your career, its all optional but that is if you can afford it!!

Okay...so First of all both dizern and kodiakgirl were extremely nice. It was sooo good to finally see someone in person. lol.

In regards to Northside medical clinic......

Cost: drug screening- $26.50

titers and physical (excluding tetorifice and TB)- $101.00 (quite pricey, but it will be no matter where you go)

Directions (lol): When coming out of North Campus, take a right on Dunn Avenue and keep driving until you pass the 95 overpass (turns into Busch Dr.) and the clinic will be on your right. lol..me and Tanya got lost because the guy with directions made it sound like it was right down the street.

Okay now...Here's the fun stuff..they only do TB tests on certain days before certain times, so i have to go back tomorrow and get the TB test before 3:30. Then I have to go back Monday and check the TB and get my results. lol...If anyone is going tomorrow or Monday I will see you there.

Carpooling: I leave off of Timuquana and 17..anyone near there?? It would be nice to ride together when classes start.

Panera: What's our game plan on that??

Fingerprinting.....Does anyone want to ride together?? lol..I'm asking this alot, but I have such a bad sense of direction. I'm scheduled for Wednesday, July 16th at 10am. I think I will also make my final copies that day and take everything to North Campus. That should be the last thing on my list. Yay!! I'm getting there. :yeah:

I would call tomorrow and see what Cheryl says. Her direct line is 766-6584 if you don't have it.

Also, I was going to by a stethoscope and cuff. Does anyone know what type is required and if we need to have a certain color? Some are $65 and some are $20 I wonder what we need.

make sure your stethoscope has a bell side and a diaphragm side (they have them in the book store at north campus) but i have a littman and a littman lightweight and love them both...no certain color

oh the blood pressure cuffs in the bookstore come with cute little carrying casses ;o)

Congrats!

Hey guys does anyone know if the LPN letters go out the same time the RN letters do?

haha..i have another question. On the packet it states we have to have a color photo and then further down it states we have to have a passport type photo...are they asking for the same thing twice??

Yea, I think so. We need to have a color passport photo. I'm going to CVS. I don't think they cost that much...

No...they don't cost much..only $7 and you get two of them. I was just making sure there wasn't another pic we needed.

Molse001 - you were so nice too! I got my passport photo and will get my TB test on Monday at my local health dept. It's only $10!!! I have an appt Monday for Worksource and if it goes through, they'll pay for tuition. Yea! Anyone have any experience with stethoscopes? I've read so much about Littmans on allnurses but have also read some good things about magna fortis and grx. Apparently the grx is modeled after the Littman Cardio. Anyway, just looking for more info. Would love to buy a cheaper one for school if it's just as good. Good luck, guys, with everything. We're on our way!

Mom in Orange Park:

Awesome! We will have to do that. :) What's your name?

I called Ms james and all she would tell me is that the letters will all be out by the 29th so I'm really stressing out about it idk how I'm gonna have enough time to get everything done IF I get accepted sorry just venting hope everyone is having a good day

I know how you feel. How do they think we will have time for all of that? I'm going straight to my Dean if I get a denial letter when I have 206 points lol. I don't care if they have to break their insurance laws, they are gonna let me in if I qualify. I don't care who I have to talk to. There is no reason I shouldn't have that acceptance letter in my hands by Monday.:clown:
