FCCJ Fall 2008

Published

Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.

I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.

I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!

I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!

Best of luck & success to all!!!

Do we know if we are required to buy our plain white bottoms from Meridys?

I think I would buy at least one pair from Meridys, just in case you draw a hard clinical instructor. They look you over up and down and if you're different from the person next to you, you might get chastised a bit.

Hello Karma 624:

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. My name is Lori btw.

just my opinion...you guys should sweat over the letters! your in...and you will have enough time. just think if 168 people turned their letters in at the same time....wooooow! pandemonium (spelling??) lol

I wouldn't sweat it, but I'm sort of afraid of having enough time for everything, including the work they give us to do before class. Plus, there is funding out there that is limited. That means that the first batches get it, instead of those people who do their best to be the first knocking on the door. There is no way for me to be the early bird is what I'm trying to say.

I am amazed at how sweet you guys are and how much ya'll are reassuring all of us late-letterers. I think this is the best forum I'm ever been on. I think we are all gonna need the support system we are building here! Thank you very much to the person who started this thread!:D

Hey guys.

Okay so I have lost my Social Security Card. Does anyone know if worksource will take just the brith certificate? Or at least the receipt of the SSC. I am going to order a new card on Monday. ERRRR :banghead: another thing to do!!!

It depends on who your worker is. Some of the counselors @ WorkSource are....let's say..."not as easy to work with" as others. Just tell your counselor the same thing you told us. See if it's okay to use the SSN receipt. All they can tell you is Yes/No. Most likely they will tell you to give them the receipt and as soon as you get your card make sure they get a copy. I think it takes a few weeks though for it to come in the mail.

This is actually my second time going through the WIA process. The first time was about 4 years ago...I wasn't sure what I wanted to do...so I never started my classes and never received funding. Back then...WorkSource paid for EVERYTHING!!! They paid for pre-reqs, books, uniforms, etc.

I understand what you mean. WIA is very limited. They are only paying for tuition. I don't need tuition as much as I need books, uniforms & supplies...My Pell will cover the tuition. Oh well...I'm thankful for the tuition...I will just have to figure out how to get my books and uniforms and stethoscope and bp cuff and shoes and more....lol:p

I can't wait to meet everyone!!! I am so excited. I think that I'm going to get a shirt airbrushed at the mall that says "allnurses.com" on the front and "bossladii" on the back for orientation part one.

Hi everyone. For those of you waiting on letters, I feel for you guys. It was nerve-wracking enough for the early letters. Hang in there - we're with you! Please keep us all informed. In other news, I have a friend who just graduated and she told me a couple things. First, if you're getting a loan through FCCJ, expect it to take about 6 weeks to go through so start now. Second, you can get the pants elsewhere. My friend bought hers from LifeUniform in OP. She got the cargo style with the pockets and said they were great for RNotes, stethoscope, etc. Apparently the cargo style is ok to wear. I just ordered everything else from Meridy's. Hopefully it will fit.

Just go buy a $3 t-shirt (or use one you already have) and a fabric pen and stencils or the iron-on kit where you can print it from your computer and iron it on! It will be cheaper. Just an idea. I am just going to wear a navy wife t-shirt. lol

NavyWifeim :: Thanks!! Never thought of the idea of doing it myself. Especially with my lack of creativity...lol

I can't wait to meet everyone! We can make a study group. And for the one's that have kids...we can bring the kids too. The mommies (or daddies) can rotate on kid duty while the rest study. We can have a note taker for the parent that was with the kids. I don't know...just playing around with ideas.... We have all gotten so close over these last few weeks, yet only a couple of us have actually met each other.

Maybe we should exchange F@cebook and/or Mysp@ce

Bossladii: Exchanging myspace and facebook is a great idea!!!

I guess I can get this started.

Myspace- Megs is my sn. If you can't find me under that..look me up by Megan Olsen or [email protected].

Facebook- Megan Olsen is my name to look me up by. I'm in the Jacksonville Network.

What is everyone wearing to the first day of orientation?? (Maybe our blue FCCJ polo and jeans).

lol..I'm anxious to see how everything will fit from Merridy's. I still haven't ordered anything and I have no idea what size to order.

I think I will be going back to LifeUniform anyways for a watch and maybe shoes. I will plan on getting my pants from there. I would hate to order from Merridy's and then find out there too big and have to pin them up or something..lol. Plus you have a greater variety to choose from. Yay!!!

Why do we have to buy a watch?? Is there a way to just use the watches I have? LOL.
