Hello all! Just thought I'd start a thread for all of those folks that have submitted, or are getting ready to submit, their applications for FCCJ's Fall '08 term.
I will be submitting my application in a few weeks, when this Spring term ends. I have taken my NAT (twice), so I'm good to go there, but still need to get my CPR class done. I called several places & I'm waiting to hear back from them.
I look forward to chatting with & getting to know all of you, who will be doing the count-down with me... on getting our acceptance letters!!!
I know it helps to sound-board off each other & to lean on each other for support... especially with getting all the things done that we have to do!
Hey you guys!! If anyone lives out in the Orange Park area, theres a store called LifeUniform. I went and got a BP kit and stethescope from them for only $50 and scissors for $6.The kind of stethescope I got is Prestige Medical. It looks very nice. They also had Littman's there, but they warned me that those are more likely to be stolen. They have practically everything there you would need.
Does anyone know if we have to buy our shoes from Merridy??
They had a great selection of shoes and also had wrist watches, so I might be going back.

-I'm going up there Monday morning if my letter doesn't come by then. I'm gonna be there by 8am- when they should be opening.
I'm going to the Dean I know after that if they don't help me. He's already asked me if I want him to fix it, but I told him that I didn't want to step on toes, so I was gonna wait over the weekend.
Let me know how it goes I would love some info I feel like they are leavin me in the dark and I have so many financial decisions that are weighted on that letter

You don't HAVE TO get the shoes from Merridy...they just have the type of shoes that the school RECOMMENDS us to have. You could even get some K-Swiss Classics, Reebok Classics, or AirForce Ones...As long as they are leather and completely white...No other colors can be on the shoe, stitching, lettering, etc....ALL WHITE!! :)
Does anyone know if scholarships or grants will pay for the uniforms? It says of the meridys order form if you need third party payment info to call them, ie scholarships but I was wondering if anything we might have would pay it....I just won a scholarship and I have bright futures, so I am wondering if this new scholarship would cover it....

Call Meridys and see if they accept your scholarship for payment...Has the scholarship been awarded yet? Nothing beats a try. They might just pay for it.
I tried to see if they would accept the Pell Grant. Financial aid says they only disburse for books and tuition. I heard a rumor that the bookstore is trying to get the uniforms in stock to sell...If that does happen, we will be able to use the book voucher (Pell Grant) to pay for uniforms.
hello everyone. this is my first post but i have been watching the discussion since it started. i have not heard anything yet and it's killing me. i just was to give some comfort to tsayuga and waitinonaug. i think it's a good that we had not heard anything (no news is good news) i have a friend that was accepted about 2 years ago and she didn’t receive her packet until a week after one of our other friends. i don't think they send all of the packets at the same time. when you think about it, it makes sense. if they send them all at once there would be 168 people trying to go to the clinic, getting drug screening, and background checks. i think next week is our week! we just have to hang in there.

they must be sending the acceptance letters in batches...
the reason why i say this is because i had less points that some of the other posters and i received my letter. the batch that was sent out on 7/9 (i think)...the date to turn everything in is july 31. i think each week they are going to send out letters on mondays...received on wendsdays and give a form completion date one week later than the previous batch.
just my opinion...you guys should sweat over the letters! your in...and you will have enough time. just think if 168 people turned their letters in at the same time....wooooow! pandemonium (spelling??) lol
I think I am going to call the financial aide dept. monday and see what I can do. Since the acceptance letters came in my motto has been, It doesn't hurt to try...lol
Do we know if we are required to buy our plain white bottoms from Meridys? Im hoping I can buy them from wal-mart, the plain ones are 9 dollars, almost half the price.
Do any of you girls live in Fernandina or Yulee? I'm hoping to find a local friend or atleast a car pool buddy, like you other ladies have....:nuke:
