FCCJ Fall '09???

Published

Anyone else planning on applying to FCCJ's nursing program for Fall '09? I figured we might as well start a "support group" thread of sorts for those of us who are. Never too early to start, right?

I don't think I'm gunna get crazy about checking my mail until Monday. Once Monday comes it'll be exactly 6 weeks since the application deadline. HOPEFULLY we won't have to wait the whole 8 weeks, I'm going a little stir crazy waiting!!! Good luck to everyone, I hope you all get the letter you're expecting! Don't forget to post as soon as you get it!!!!

Also it would be great if when you post your acceptance letters to say if you are in nassau/duval or not and how many points you had....that will help us determine whether or not we are qualified to get in if we havent gotten our letters yet. I hope they dont spread out the timeframe in which each of us gets our letters, this is driving me crazy! maybe they are trying to teach us an early nursing virtue: patience lol

agreed lol. post your number of points and county as soon as anyone gets a letter. im so anxious now... i go on this forum every day and keep asking my step mom to check the mail since i dont live at home. im going out of the country in 2 weeks and it would be awesome to find out before i leave!! otherwise i will be stressing during the trip lol. good luck to everyone and keep us updated if anyone receives anything... :) so there is a new application now? i think i filled out the old one that says preference to duval and nassau only. at least it is more fair now for those not in duval or nassau. i know that sjrcc does give preference or rather awards extra points for people in st.johns, clay, or putnam. so i guess thats just how it is. i applied for fccj because i live in duval. sjrcc gives points for grades, if you live in the county, and points for each class you take at their campus. i would definately not have got in even with a's and b's. so cw, you could apply to sjrcc. their nursing program is in orange park... might be closer for you too.

I just checked out SJRCC yesterday. I just moved back here a year ago after 20 years away so I was unfamiliar with any other college other than FCCJ. I had heard of SJRCC but thought it was over near JU only. I have been re-taking pre-reqs, yes, re-taking, for the last 2 semesters so that I could apply to the nursing program. It sucked to have to re-take A and P again but I did it. :) I have to have Human Nutrition for SJRCC's program and I managed to find the very last summer session at FCCJ starting in 2 weeks for that. It will be a little rough since it is a 4 week class but hey, I have nothing else to do right now since I am not working! Thank God for a supportive husband!! SJRCC goes by GPA first and I would get 10 points for my Bachelors and another 5 points for my healthcare profession, x-ray, but would get nothing for pre-req classes since I didn't take any classes with them. It is closer to me, boy was I ***** about that when I saw where the OP campus was, but I am committed at this point to FCCJ unless I don't get in.

I have a Plan B for Fall if I don't get in which is to re-take Chem with a lab for when I go for my BSN/MSN and possibly re-take my Psych and English that they transferred in from almost 2 decades ago!!! My youth got the best of me in those two classes and I got a C and B which as you all know drags your points down, 9 for me on just those two, to be exact. Also, if I can get in at the last minute for Case Management, there are 4 of the 6 classes offered split between the semester. And of course, retake the NAT. Then it is to re-apply at FCCJ and also apply to SJRCC.

So you see, all is not lost for me at this point. As long as I have a plan I can relax and let whatever happens, happen, as a friend of mine said to me. Of course, if I get in, well, no worries!!!!:smiley_ab

But I will definitely let you all know when I find out. Trust me, I am at the mail box several times a day and I am starting to HATE Sundays!! (No Mail) But at least it is not as critical as before.

Oh, Amber, Clay, Baker, and St, John's, from what I have been told are no longer priority counties. They are considered out-of-county now. Which is why I was freaking out a bit in earlier posts, I'm in Clay, I too had an old application with 4 counties on it as priorty.

CW

SJRCC does give you an extra 10 or 15 points for being at St Johns county resident.

no news today... :crying2: maybe tomorrow....

SO....I went to check the mail and I saw a big white envelope from FCCJ. I pulled it out of the mailbox and opened it as fast as I could. I knew this had to be the letter. But, no. It was information I requested months and months AND MONTHS ago on the nursing program. They decided it would be fun to send me the information on the same week that we are all on the edge of our seats. Funny and dissappointing. Nothing today guys and girls!

nothing here either

Mail came early today- not a darn thing. :(

Nothing here either  This is week 7 so I think it will probably be next week before we here anything. I get more and mor anxious by the day. I just want to know one way or another.

I know its so nerve racking!!!!! I need to know now!!! I was accepted into the EMT program but I need to know where I stand with the nursing application!!!! Before I start it!!!!

Sorry Cookie09...better count again...this is only week 6 :( we may have 2 more weeks to go! Ugh. When I dropped off the application packet, the woman at the desk told me to expect to hear something the 3rd week in July. I'm thinking we'll hear something the end of next week.
