FCCJ Fall '09???

U.S.A. Florida

Anyone else planning on applying to FCCJ's nursing program for Fall '09? I figured we might as well start a "support group" thread of sorts for those of us who are. Never too early to start, right?

Hi there! I'm applying for Fall '08....Not '09... did you mean '08 or '09? ait. Just a few more weeks till this term is over and I'll be handing in my application. It seems like it has taken forever to get to this point, but I'm truly excited that it is FINALLY here! I'm calling today to sign-up for the CPR class... that is all I have left to do. How about you?

I'm applying for Fall '09. I'm still doing prereqs. :( But I will be done soon enough lol. I was just trying to find someone who was still doing prereqs. Good luck with applying though. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! Do you know how many points you have? I read on these boards that the cut off is usually in the low to mid 180s... so if you have more than that you should be okay. Good luck!

Best of luck to you as well! If you want any recommendations, as far as pre-reqs, email me privately & I'd be happy to share. We aren't allowed to discuss teachers on the public posts; wouldn't want to offend or upset any of the other wonderful teachers out there!

As far as points, I have 201 without using my Microbiology points. I'm taking that class during the summer term, so I can't use them. But, yeah... I've heard that the cut-off varies, but is in the mid-one eighty range usually. Of course it all depends on the what the people, whom are applying, have that determines the median... could go up... could go down.

Hope this helps! Have a great day!!! Work hard & keep in touch...

Hi. I hope to apply for the FCCJ RN program at the end of Spring term '09. I also hope to start the program in Fall of '09. I have chem, micro, college alg, and eng comp left. I am studying for the NAT and I haven't taken the CPR class yet. What about you?

Yay! I'm not alone! :yeah:Haha. Sorry it took me so long to reply... I just remembered I made this thread.

I am currently taking A&P2, Micro, Psych, and Human Growth. Those are the only other pre-reqs I need so I will be taking the Summer off.:onbch:

I just took the NAT Tuesday and I did pretty well. If you still haven't taken it, it's easy. And I'm going to take my CPR class sometime soon.

Thank goodness there is someone else here for Fall '09! I was thinking I was the only one.

I am also going to be applying to the Fall 09 program. I am taking Algebra and AP 2 right now. I am going to be taking Micro during the summer which is the only other pre-req I would need. I really hope I do well on the NAT to be able to get around the cut off for the points.

Serendipity how did you study for the NAT? Or maybe I should what did you study for it. Where did you take the test at? I have it scheduled for April since the application dates are from April 1-June 1 I think. Also I will be getting my CPR from a class I am taking right now.

I am also applying for Fall '09. I'm taking Chem, statistics and nutrition right now. I'll be taking Micro this summer. I'm getting my CPR cert in March and I'm taking the NAT in 2 weeks as well. I have A's in every single one of my pre-reqs so I hope that and my NAT scores will secure me a spot. I know it's really hard getting into nursing school where ever you go but i really want to go to FCCJ. I have friends that are nurses in town and they all say they can tell the difference between the nurses that went to FCCJ, SJRCC, or UNF. FCCJ has 1000 more clinical hours than any other prgram in town.

I'm excited about it!!!! I'm a little scared, nerves are kicking in because its crunch time but still.

siby.siby I've been studying McGraw-Hill's Nursing Entrance Exams. Everyone I've talked to said it was way easier than the study guides make it out to be. It never hurts to be prepared though.

Question: Does anyone know what colors the scrubs are in the program perhaps?

Is anyone else applying for Fall 2009??

I just tallied up all my points so far and I have 92 points without STA2023 or MCB2010C. I have a 97 average in statistics and hope that A doesn't change by the end of the semester. I got my BLS/CPR cert last week and I've had to put the NAT off until next Tues.

I hope having straight A's and a good NAT score will secure my spot since I've read several posts on here about the cut off points in the Fall as high as 184-190.

Deadlines are fast approaching for everything, Scholarships, Financial Aid, Nursing Applications, Grades...everything. It'll be here before you know it. Oh, fun fact: FCCJ isn't posting the Financial Aid checklist for 09-10 until mid April 09 (I asked the Aid office the other day).

I'm excited but really scared all at the same time

I'll be applying for Fall '09. Didn't make the cut-off for Summer '09. :crying2: FWIW - Summer cut off was 190.24. They had 397 applications for 96 slots. I ranked 126th with a score of 185.32. So between my score and the cut off of 190.24 there were 30 people across those 4.94 points. It's very competitive folks (but we've heard that, right?)!!

I'm going to retake the NAT in May - I know I can get a better score!

I am glad you are staying positive!! Everything happens for a reason! Who knows? You might be given an amazing job offer when you finish that you would not have gotten otherwise.

I understand, it is competitive. I would have made it for the summer, without Microbiology complete I am setting my sites on the fall term. I am hopeful that 197 will make it in seeing how the fall accepts more students.
