MAGA = make America great again

” - phile”= Greek-based suffix indicating “lover of”.

Magaphile = lover of making America great again. You find that offensive? Why is that?

Do you like children?  By your logic, you then wouldn't be offended if I called you a pedophile, I guess.

You said you coined the phrase.  Just a coincidence you used "- phile" when by far the most commonly used word with that suffix is pedophile.  But, you coined it in a effort to not be pejoritive.

Sure.

Pobrecito! The eternal victim …

FYI, I coined the term in order to be as non-perjorative as possible without conflating “conservative” and/or “Republican”. If it applies to you, it’s only common courtesy to ask what term you prefer.

If you can’t name something, it’s awfully hard to think about it. Linguistics 101. Having language that is not pejorative helps me to take a step back and pay attention to what they are saying.

If it doesn’t apply to you, are you claiming to speak for trump’s base and their sympathizers? Or are you just being right-wing “woke”? Or are you saying that MAGA = conservative = Republican = rightwingnut and that the words can be used interchangeably?

Still gonna use it.

You're all over by unexplicibly trying to show you're trying not  to be insulting.

What youre saying now and your implied definition of the term don't jive with how you've been using it.

But, let's move forward.   I understand you'll still "gonna use it".  Maybe it would be helpful if we have your definition of the term to use going forward.

You have no idea what you’re talking about.

Shall we have a contest over who can come up with the most words ending in -phile?

Already gave it: those who agree with Trump’s definition of what it means to make America great again, his policy proposals, and their sympathizers.

Please show where my definition of the term does not “jive” with how I’ve been using it?

Meanwhile, you never clarified your own perspective. Are you a MAGA follower who refers to your own movement by another word? If yes, why keep it a secret?

Or are you a non-MAGA who is choosing to become indignant over what you perceive to be an insult to a group to which you don’t belong? If yes, how woke you are!

I know there are plenty of words.  If we were playing Family Feud, pedophile would be the number 1 answer by a longshot.

And, we all know that's why you constructed word in the manner you did.

The sound of crickets backing you up is evidence of what you already know.

I believe this is entirely based on one's frame of reference.  A librarian might say the most commonly used word with that suffix is "bibliophile" and so on.

I do read a lot of politics related stuff, but I don't have cable, and I rarely read websites I know come from a decidedly slanted position either way.

It's true that "pedophile" is omnipresent for a subset of people who have mixed traditional politics which from the outside looking in seems like an amalgam of conspiracy theories, Q-Anon, Jeffrey Epstein, MTG, trans children, grooming, Alex Jones, and a Texas Butterfly sanctuary.

I'm sure I'm missing some things here, but the point is it's a self-generating subset of the political realm as a whole.

The problem with libtard is it's association with "retarded", which used to be a medical term without the denigrating baggage it has today.  There are people who defend use of that word based on that origin without regard to the offense taken by those who understand the word as it has evolved, as insulting and demeaning. But that would be a whole 'nother topic.

Maybe words like audiophile, videophile or bibliophile seem uncommon to some.  That's suffix denotes fondness for something.

In the case of pedophilia or pedophile the definition is specifically associated with sexual attraction to children.  To choose to use that word to describe someone is most certainly a pejorative. Surely you are aware of this.

And some of us wax romantic about the Auld Country. Francophile and Anglophile are the terms I see most often. Don’t know the word for nostalgia for Ireland - hiberniphile?

I appreciate what you're saying, although not many people are librarians.  And, I'd bet those that are seldom use that term.

My aunt, now retired, was a "librarian" at a university for many years.  I'm not remembering her official title.  I've never heard her use the term.

Anyway, the point is that person is using magaphile in an attempt to be insulting and inflammatory.

Anyone who is interested can go back to posts in which you've used that term, and replace it with the definition you're now providing.  They'll see that most of it is nonsensical, and then clearly see you are using 'magaphile" as a insult.
