Hi guys. I'm new to posting but I've been a long time lurker. I just wanted to know if anyone is in or is planning to attend Farmingdale State College. I want to go there but I want to know some more information about it. What are the pre-reqs for the LPN program? What is the lowest composite score that they look at? All other schools tell you this but I can't find that info anywhere on Farmingdale's website. I'm currently studying for the exam (even though I have NO IDEA when the next PAX-PN test is being given in NY). I got a B in Psych and also a B is English. I have to re-take A&P1 in the Fall because I didn't do so well in it. I'm trying my hardest to get an A in it so that they'll at least consider me for the program. I'm sorry for the long post but I'm just panicking because I have no clue what I'm really doing lol. I'd love if anyone/everyone could help me out. What other pre-reqs do I need for the PN program? Is it really hard to get into? I'm pretty much freaking out about....EVERYTHING:banghead:. I just don't feel like I'm doing enough. Seriously, do you all think I have a good shot at getting in with the grades I stated above?
Thank you SO much...you have been super helpful. I think what I am going to do is apply as a degree student at least to see if I can get any financial aid, and then take it from there. Basically I just want to get my pre-req's done ASAP so however I can do that fastest and cheapest is what I will do. Thanks again for the advice!
Hello:D
I can't thank you enough for posting the models for A&P 2 on You tube. I am taking A & P2 this fall 2009 at Farmingdale. What lab professor was that? Who do you recommend for A & P 2? I had Dr. Crocker for A&P 1 and got an A. So far thank God, I have a 4.0. I am took Physiol. Chem already over the summer and Child. Dev 232. I am taking speech and society and health. All I need now is micro and I am done with all my pre-reqs.
I am applying for the Fall 2010 Nursing class, and when I start I only want to do nursing classes, that's why I took my time to knock out all of the pre-reqs and co-reqs before I get in the program. I just have to take the NLN....how was your experience? How do you like the nursing program so far? Who did you have for lec/lab in A&P1 and 2?
Sorry to bombard you with questions....just happy and excited about nursing...lol
Okay thanks, and have a nice eve. Much kudos to you.
Hi Betsy -
I too am SOOO excited! I go to Farmingdale I have already taken English 1&2, Psychology, Child Development and Statistics - and now I am taking A&P1 this semester. Is it really as hard as everyone says? I have Professor Angel and Prof Capentandes for Lab. What types of things do you do in the lab? I am such a dork I have already studied Chapter 1 completely and getting started on Chapter 2. I NEED to get an A. After Anatomy all I will have left is my sciences. I am hoping to get in Fall 2011 -- like you I want to finish all my prereqs first before I enter the program.
For those of you already accepted into Farmingdales AS Program I was just wondering what classes and what you grades were when you got accepted.
Good for you, keep up the good work............it'll be nice to be in class together...... so I had Dr. Crocker who was very nice, I don't know about your teachers cause I never had them, but just do your work and you will be fine, study study, study!!!!!!!!!!!
Farmingdale is a great school, and I heard nothing but good things from everyone. What is your GPA so far? What did you get in your classes? I haven't heard what the GPA cut off was...let me know if you find out....
Okay have a nice day...:redbeathe:up:
Right now I have A's in everything. I still have to take A&P1 (Can't wait to start next week), A&P2, Micro, Chem, and Sociology.
I work full time so I have been taking 2 classes at a time after 5pm.
I have read chapter 1 already on a&p 1 and pretty much know it inside out. I just started myself on Chapter 2 Chemicals which I find to be so hard - ions, atoms, protons, and all that stuff. But I am trying to review and memorize alittle bit from now. I find the chapter tests on myaandp.com to be helpful.
I wonder if the entrance test is hard.
What kind of labs do they give in a&p1?
I really like farmingdale - expecially their night class flexibility
Sooo happy to hear that , keep up the good work!! :up:I also have straight A's in everything. What else are you taking this semester with A&P 1? What do you plan on taking in spring and summer? What did you hear abut the NLN? Don/t worry A&P1 is easy, but you have to study, you will be fine, I know it. :)
This semester I am taking a&p1, next semester a&p2, then I am going to apply for the nusing program for 2011. While I'm waiting for an answer I am going to take Micro, then the following semester chemistry. I work full time and I know these sciences are hard and have labs so I am taking them 1 at a time so I get A's (hopefully). OMG Is it true at Farmingdale in A&P1 lab you have to disect a cat????

APAG, yes you can. I have a BS in Elementary Education, and as long as you are matriculated you can get a loan. Im not to sure about the actual pell grants and things like that, but unsubsadized and subsadized loans are available. You can go online now and fill out a FAFSA and a TAP and check off whatever schools you will be applying for. They will determinge your eligibility. It depends on the actual paperwork they get from the school when and where they will realese your money. The school is basically stating "Yes he or she is matriculated here for this many credits" and they will send the money to the school. DO IT NOW! hopefully it will be approved before september. Apply for either Liberal Arts or Health Sciences. I was Health Sciences so I can be matriculated and get first choice on my classes (non-matrics are last to pick). I applied for Nursing as a change of major. Good luck (PS if your goal is Farmingdale start studying for the NLN now)
