So did anyone NOT get in? Lol....I was hesitant to post this after everyone was discussing their acceptances but I was rejected I'm really happy for everyone who got in - especially those who will be commuting or relocating to the area. I grew up in Northampton, about 15ish minutes from Amherst and the area is really fantastic (I guess I'm biased though lol) Anyway, I don't know if it is worth applying again for next year, nothing has really changed for me except that I finished the classes I was taking in the Spring with the same grades I had at midterm when my teachers emailed admissions as they were requested. I had a 3.6 GPA from NYU where I went for my undergrad but my average in my science pre-reqs, which I took after I graduated, was lower, only a 3.2 which I'm not surprised was too low for the program at UMASS. I'm going to apply to some associate's programs for next year and if that doesn't work I may just move on to something different - I don't think I could handle retaking any of my science classes again even to improve my GPA Anyway - congrats to everyone who got in and good luck!!!

Yea, me either. I've applied to some ADN programs too, but it was hard since I'm still finishing my pre-reqs now. If I don't get in anywhere I'll just spend next year applying to more schools and hopefully have more options for Fall 2012...we'll see :)

Nope...the email was really short and didn't give any other info. How did you decide to apply to UMASS? Do you know what other schools around are still accepting applications for the fall? I thought I was okay with the few schools I applied to around MA, but now I feel like I should have applied to more just in case.

Hehe no, I'm actually from Massachusetts...just a funny coincidence that my first name begins with an A and my fiances last name is Rodriguez. I think they might be contacting everyone if there is anything missing because in the email she also said one of my recommendations is missing :/ that makes me worried, but I'm hoping they will still accept the recommendation if I get it in ASAP.

Hi! I applied too :) I sent my application in a while ago and was a little worried I hadn't gotten any kind of confirmation that my application was received, but I got an email today asking for my midterm grades because I'm taking my last two pre-reqs this semester. At least that means they haven't rejected me yet, lol.

Thanks so much! I think I will eventually go for my BSN, but would like to get my ASN first and then do an RN to BSN program. If I am already an RN when I go for my BSN, the chem that I took won't matter too much, right? Or should I still go for the CHE113/114....I'm just afraid that it will be harder and more overwhelming to have to take both courses instead of just CHE105. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the information - I have since applied and have been accepted so my next step is to start taking my pre-req's. I have a question about which chemistry is better to take - CHE105 (Chem for Health Sciences) OR the CHE113 and CHE114 combo (Inorganic and Organic Chem). Does anyone have experience in one or the other and what the pros and cons are of taking either?? THANK YOU! :nuke:

Hi :) I posted this question on another UCC thread but just in case anyone sees this first...my question is if I want to go to UCC for my pre-req's with hopes of going into their nursing program, should I apply for a different major and then change or do I take classes as a non-degree student? I already have a BA so I am only going to need the main pre-req courses. Thanks!

Thank you SO much...you have been super helpful. I think what I am going to do is apply as a degree student at least to see if I can get any financial aid, and then take it from there. Basically I just want to get my pre-req's done ASAP so however I can do that fastest and cheapest is what I will do. Thanks again for the advice!

Thanks! Would you happen to know if I can still get federal financial aid even if I received financial aid for a previous bachelor's degree, but have not yet reached the maximum federal limits?

Quick question - this may be obvious but i just want to clarify :) To take my pre-req's at Farmingdale, do I register as a non-degree student, or do I apply to another program and then after my pre-req's apply/transfer to the nursing program?? Thanks!!!

Well, in response to my own question, I spoke with someone from Rutgers admissions and they said that even for the traditional 2nd degree BSN program, most applicants and admitted students have completed the majority of the prerequisites.

This is my first post here and I had no idea where to put it SO if someone reading this knows where else I should post it to get more attention let me know! Okay, so I just found out today that I didn't get accepted to Rutger's 2nd Degree BSN program I am really disappointed because I thought, according to the description, it was a program I could enter without first completing all the science pre-req's which I haven't done yet and was planning on completing at Rutgers prior to starting my nursing classes. I tried calling the admissions office to talk to someone about why I may not have been accepted, but I wont receive a call back for up to three business days. I was wondering if anyone knows if I might have been rejected because I don't have many pre-req's completed....Does anyone know anymore about Rutgers 2nd degree admissions? I was under the impression that the accelerated program were for people who had all their requirements done and that the traditional were for people who needed to take more....am I wrong? My backup plan was to spend the next year taking my prerequisites at a community college and then apply to a BSN program.... Thanks!
