Hi, I'm starting my ADN nursing program in a few weeks. My 1st semester (of five semester program) will be:
Fundamentals of nursing (6 credit hours)
Fundamentals of nursing clinical ( 1 day/week)
fundamentals of nursing lab (1 day/week; 2 days a week the first few weeks until we start clinicals)
Health Assessment (counts as 1 credit hour but is scheduled for 3)
Pharmacology ( also counts as 1 credit but is scheduled 3)
I'm excited to see how it will all work. I wrote down what I think my schedule will look like and I was able to find about 23 hours a week to study. I hope that will be enough! My schedule is officially only 9 hrs total but we were advised against working, especially full time, and have most or all of our "co-reqs" done. ( I have all of them out of the way). I don't work but I am a mom of 2 which keeps me pretty busy. I've also been "couponing" for a while now, and I would like to have 3-5 hours to spend on that but I didn't see where I could squeeze it in...we'll see.
How about everyone else? What will your first semester look like?

:) I'm excited but very nervous. My days will be very busy and I'm expecting it to be very challenging. Oh yea, I'm in a BSN program.
I will be starting semester 1 next month (out of total of 4 semesters). I have all of my prereqs completed so I am scheduled for 8 credit hours for fall 2011.
Mon 9AM-9:50AM Nursing Issues & Perspectives I
Mon 12:30-4:50PM Foundations of Nursing (lecture)
Tues 1-3PM Foundations of Nursing (lab)
Wed 7:30AM-12PM Clinical
Thurs 1-3:50PM Pharmacology & Dosage Calc
OFF FRIDAY
I currently work part-time, about 20 hrs/wk. I'm probably going to request a schedule change and work a full shift fri, sat & sun
Thanks everyone for responding, and keep them coming! It's so interesting to see how the different schools format their programs. My school doesn't have classes on Fridays which I really love because that gives me a day when things are open ( & the kids are in school) to run errands and study, or use the library. I'm not as excited about having to go 5 semesters, and being unable to take the summer off but if it makes the pace manageable I'll take it. Most of my classes start early and my clinicals start at 6:30 so I'm going to have to adjust to getting up REALLY early.

I start the ADN program next month and our school is still trying to finish up our schedules. I will be taking 8 credit hours and so far the schedule looks like:
M & W Intro to Organic Chem 50 min each day
Tues. Fundamentals of Nursing 2 hours
Micro's lab this will be taken either on Tues. or Thurs and this class is for three hours.
I am still waiting for my clinical and nursing lab to be scheduled. Once I see that, then I will know what day my micro lab is on.
