  1. Yea that's the same clinic just the Dickinson location. Immunizations only. The same staff go between the two offices. They do tb testing there as well. Sent from my iPad using allnurses.com
  2. Galveston county health district (four seas). I know the titter is 25 I wouldn't think the shot is much more. Most Dr offices charge about 75 for it. Sent from my iPad using allnurses.com
  3. Oh and you don't get to choose which section of skills you're in or your clinical day or location. If you're working shoot for weekends, after 5 and off days. After first semester... Good luck with working cause it gets intense... But lots of my classmates still work. Sent from my iPad using allnurses.com
  4. Your schedule is quite complicated but I'll try to explain... For he first half of the semester there's Health assessment MW 1-3:50. And Skills I Thu either 8:30-12:20 or 10:30-1:50 for the whole semester. The second half you have intro to nursing WF 9:30-10:50 and clinical either M,W or Sat from 6:30-6:30. Hope this helps, :-) Sent from my iPad using allnurses.com
  5. Our group name is Nursing School Buddies! I'm not sure who the current admin is. I can find out tomorrow cause we stay in close contact almost daily even though we are on a break. :-) As far as the setting up I know the setting is closed group and we couldnt have college of the mainland anywhere on the page info without approval. you will quickly find that having a fb group is a lifesaver... Especially when its the first day of clinical and you can't find the meeting spot. Lol
  6. Make sure to put security on your page.(ex: make it private, secret, etc) one of the first documents you will sign at com is a social networking waiver. The easiest way to get out of it is taking the name (com) off and making it private. Just a heads up. :-) we recently had to modify our page. Sent from my iPad using allnurses.com
  7. Sorry you had to deal with that. I don't know if things have changed but the advisor shouldn't have the applications. All the advisor does is completes your EDP and "advises" you of your options. Once you have it you get your application from the nursing department. I would give them a call before giving up hope. 8. From what I heard, there was only 20 applicants before they extended the deadline. It's all about economics. Sorry you guys have to wait... With the applicant pool being less than the seats they need to fill, you all are more than likely in. And they have about 25 alt spots so not to worry. To occupy your time you could make sure your shots and CPR are in line. It's a real headache. Sent from my iPad using allnurses.com
  9. Hello everyone!!! I just wanted to wish you all good luck on your acceptance to COM. I was in your shoes this time last year and I know the feeling. Hopefully you will receive your acceptance soon. I got mine around the 10th last year. COM has a great program and the faculty do everything they can to help you succeed. If you have any questions I'm open to answer and I hope to see you all around in the fall! :-)
  10. @kstar101- Thanks for the information. I have a few questions... 1) Do we need all 18 books on the book list? Some said optional but I was wondering if I should get them anyway. 2) Does the bookstore have the nursing kit or do we get it somewhere else? 3) Do you think it would be challenging to work and complete the program? How many hours a week would you recommend? Thanks!!!
  11. Hello. I've been reading this thread and its funny how all schools are completely different. I start my first semester next month. (super excited) Just registered last week. My schedule is First 8 weeks MW 1-4 Health Assessment Th 830-1230 Skills Lab 2nd 8 weeks M 6-6 Clinical I WF 1-3 Intro to Nursing T 830-1230 Skills lab
  12. No they didn't discuss the stethoscope. I'm assuming we just need the regular one with the swivel head thing. I guess it was implied with the fashion show. I registered the day of orientation. It didn't take long we were the only people in line. Its th financial aid and advisement tha takes al day. The bookstore is changing companies so the staff know absolutely nothing. I looked up books on the faculty info/syllabus pahe for he spring. Hopefully we need the same books.
  13. Well now that orientation is out of the way... On to important things... Anyone have info for books? I'm not a bookstore kinda girl and CLEARLY there are no nursing books there now anyway. Can we buy used books? I shop online at campusbooks.com its the absolute best! Let me know if you guys know anything. :-)
  14. I can't wait!!! I'm sure we will be overloaded with information but I'm ready for it all! See you guys tomorrow!
  15. @blynn- I have. They VERY RUDELY let me know that I have been terminated from financial aid. The lady attacked me asking all kinds of questions about why I have so many credit hours and why I haven't graduated. I have a bachelors degree that I paid for out of pocket because my parents made too much for me to qualify. After telling her all that she was silent and said I could apply for an appeal. I'm over it and will be applying for a private loan. Good luck!
