Fall 2019 Nassau Community College Nursing Program

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all! I’ve searched around & haven’t seen any threads on the Fall 2019 NCCC Nursing program applicants so I decided to start one. I would love to hear from current applicants, current/past students, family or friends of NCCC nurses. Any feedback is appreciated. Feel free to join in & let’s chat! ?

Nice, your scores look good. I believe they soley don’t base on TEAS though. I had all 80s last semester but didn’t get in :(. And looking from older threads, it looks like we will get decision letter around April 20.

I get 5 points taken off because I was previously in another program. Then my prereqs are a mix of A’s and B’s. I heard they add 5 points for being a Nassau resident

If you don’t mind me asking, what nursing program? My friend is molloy and says the program is good. But, I hear adelphi isn’t that good. Molloy would probably be my back up.

also, pretty sure Nassau resident is 10pts. So, good for us residents lol.

They showed us a sample of the proposed schedule once the BSN program is finalised and honestly I still have doubts. I wish I sat closer so I could have snapped a pic of the screen, but the first semester for example includes Bioethics (if you didn't take it), Modern American History (which sounds like US History post civil war, which I already took). Apparently, the Modern American History (which is an Empire State College class) is an upper level class and the class I took is a lower level class so it sounds like I'd have to take it again-which is what I am NOT trying to do.

Also, in the 2nd or 3rd semester there is a Western Civ class, which I have never seen in any RN to BSN bridge program. I'm not too pleased with the proposed changes. I saw a Sociology class that deals with Aging which sounds ok, but the other classes sound unnecessary. Bottom line, it's a financial thing for me, and also a time issue. The Suny Empire State College classes can be taken online, still-that's more time I have to spend on a class.

Anyway, I'm going to see what happens with my application. I have pretty good grades and 80 overall for TEAS. I really need to find out more once it's all finalized. I don't think it was fair for them to blast us with all these changes while we are still applying-it makes me uneasy that I can't make a decision right now.

hey im just seeing this now....did they happen to mention if this is an actual go in the fall? the reason i did not both with taking my teas yet is because i knocked nassau off my list because i heard they were pushing the program back some more.

I was at for nursing. Now I’m at Molloy but it’s too expensive and I already have loans. Molloy is my back up if I don’t get into NCC! They said 5 points last time maybe it changed!

When I went to the info session early this month, they didn't say it was official, it was 99% going to happen but paperwork etc had to be signed/approved. It seems to be official now, when you look at the site

Interesting too you like molloy. My biggest concern with Nassau nursing is I hear the program is so much harder than molloy/Adelphi.

Anyone have any insight on how hard Nassau is?

So I emailed Nassau last night about their update in website and asking if it was possible to submit my application still since I was waiting on finding out officially if it was a program that was officially happening in the fall...they replied back telling me they couldn’t make an exception (which I understand but it was also unfair that they did provide info about this sooner) and to apply in the spring...I was only going to change my major at Nassau if the option was there otherwise I’m graduating this semester wnd was looking into Molloy, st. Joseph’s, adelphi, LIU Post and LIU Brooklyn and st. Joseph’s and adelphi were the two schools that offered me the most amount of money for the least amount of time aka a year and a half. It’s just Nassau is 10 minutes from my house so I like how quick the commute is

I’m not a fan of Molloy. They have told some of my friends it would only be 2 years and then kept them for longer. I know a few nurses that graduated from NCC and loved the program. It’s challenging but most nursing programs will be

Hello! Can someone please help me calculate my points to apply for the NCC BSN program. I have all my pre requisite courses done. If I were to get in I would basically be taking the Associate’s courses such as NUR101, NUR105, NUR203, and NUR 204. Would I even be allowed take these 4 courses in one semester considering all my pre reqs are done!? Below I have included all my grades required towards the BSN! I'm not sure what classes they won't bother looking at. I just included all the courses that were listed. Thanks in advance for your help! Best of luck to all that have applied!

Hi! I’m not sure how the points are exactly calculated. I am trying to figure it out myself. I do know for sure that they will not let you take Nursing 101, Nur 105, Nur 203 and Nur 204 in one semester. They are sequential classes and will take 4 semesters to finish them.

I applied for Fall 2019 and hoping I make the cut. I’m worried about my TEAS, I didnt do to well since i decided to apply when I found out about the ASN/BSN program. Only had 2 days to review and study. I am hoping that they accept 2 separate groups of students, those who still need pre-reqs and those who already took all. From what I read about the new program, you need take 5 pre-requisites, before moving on to the next semester or level. You have 2 semesters to complete these prerequisites before moving on and you wont be taking actual nursing courses or doing clinicals/rotations until semester 2. I’m thinking they will accept new high school graduates and people with not enough pre-requisites to the Semester 1 group and people Semester 2 group will be the ones with all pre-reqs completed. Im hoping thats the case! Lol the only reason why im thinking this is because they already have nursing 101 class schedules for Fall 2019.
