Fall 2019 Nassau Community College Nursing Program

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all! I’ve searched around & haven’t seen any threads on the Fall 2019 NCCC Nursing program applicants so I decided to start one. I would love to hear from current applicants, current/past students, family or friends of NCCC nurses. Any feedback is appreciated. Feel free to join in & let’s chat! ?

I’m guessing it’ll be the week of the 22nd. At the information session the admission directors said late April and when I handed in my application the office said early May. They prob want to give themselves a little wiggle room so the office isn’t flooded with calls.

I’m hoping we all hear from the nursing department by the end of the week or beginning of next week. The suspense is killing me lol.

Anyone have any updates ??

Hello! Can someone please help me calculate my points to apply for the NCC BSN program. I have all my pre requisite courses done. If I were to get in I would basically be taking the Associate’s courses such as NUR101, NUR105, NUR203, and NUR 204. Would I even be allowed take these 4 courses in one semester considering all my pre reqs are done!? Below I have included all my grades required towards the BSN! I'm not sure what classes they won't bother looking at. I just included all the courses that were listed. Thanks in advance for your help! Best of luck to all that have applied!

(COMPOSITION 1) ENG 101= C+

(COMP 2) ENG102= C

(STATS) MAT102= C

(GENERAL PSYCH) PSY203= C+

(BIOMED ETHICS) PHI110= C

ROLE OF WOMEN) HIS 125= B+

(AP1) AHS131= B

(AP2)AHS132= B

(MED MICRO) AHS202= B

(LIFESPAN) PSY216= A

(SOCIOLOGY) SOC 201= A

(PATHO) BIO 131= B

**HERE ARE SOME OTHER COURSE IVE SEEN MENTIONED BUT NOT SURE IF THEY COUNT TOWARDS ELECTIVES.

(SPANISH) SPA102= A

PED 235= A

(INTPERS. COMM) COM101= A

**+ I’ve never been in any nursing program

** I still have to take my TEAS

You can’t take all the nursing courses in one semester. Each course is 7-8 credits and are a combination of lecture, lab and a full day of clinical. I’m in the program now. I have all the pre reqs done and only taking 101. Trust me that one course is a whole lot work! There’s a reason why you have to take them one at a time.

How do you like the program so far?

It’s a lot of work and I am so happy there’s only 4 weeks left. But I love it

By any chance, could you tell us about the grading? For instance, my friend is in Adelphi’s program and she says :

80% of grade - lecture

20% of grade - lab (pass/fail)

Lecture -

3 or 4 exams (70%)

Kaplan exam (10%)

care plans (10%)

quizzes which are online (10%)

does nassau have similar grading? Appreciate any insight. Adelphi seems really easy but expensive

I didn't know there was a forum for Fall 2019 applicants until now! I applied and the wait is killing me. Did anyone get an acceptance email yet?

How much is the tuition for the nursing program at NCC?

It’s similar. 4 exams and a final that is cumulative plus 20 questions of new material. There are 2 short papers and a kind of community service and an essay of your experience you need a 75 to pass them or you have to redo them. You have to get a 75 on two concept maps. We don’t have quizzes.
