Fall 2019 Nassau Community College Nursing Program

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all! I’ve searched around & haven’t seen any threads on the Fall 2019 NCCC Nursing program applicants so I decided to start one. I would love to hear from current applicants, current/past students, family or friends of NCCC nurses. Any feedback is appreciated. Feel free to join in & let’s chat! ?

Hi there, I already submitted my application the first week of February. I have to call them on Monday to double check they got my remaining 2 transcripts. I'm applying to the day program and have taken all the nursing prerequisites classes but still have to take bioethics. I will be going to the info session on Tuesday.

Hey! That’s awesome to hear! I am in the same boat as you as far as applying pending they received my transcripts. I also have all the non-nursing courses done minus the bioethics. What time is the info session on Tuesday? I would love to attend if my job permits.

Really hoping I get in, I hear ncc gets around 1000 applicants and around 80 are accepted. So far I took:

Anatomy and Physiology I: A

Anatomy and Physiology II: A

Medical Microbiology: B+

Statistics: A

Psychology: A

Lifespan: A

History: A

English: B

Biomed: B

Teas: all 80s

I didn’t get in last semester but took biomedical. I honestly believe ncc is one of hardest programs to get into in the ny lol

@Zaier123 Your grades are awesome! I have no idea the level of difficulty to get into this program but fingers crossed that we both get in.

@castorandpollux Did you happen to attend the info session? How was it?

Did you apply anywhere else?

They showed us a sample of the proposed schedule once the BSN program is finalised and honestly I still have doubts. I wish I sat closer so I could have snapped a pic of the screen, but the first semester for example includes Bioethics (if you didn't take it), Modern American History (which sounds like US History post civil war, which I already took). Apparently, the Modern American History (which is an Empire State College class) is an upper level class and the class I took is a lower level class so it sounds like I'd have to take it again-which is what I am NOT trying to do.

Also, in the 2nd or 3rd semester there is a Western Civ class, which I have never seen in any RN to BSN bridge program. I'm not too pleased with the proposed changes. I saw a Sociology class that deals with Aging which sounds ok, but the other classes sound unnecessary. Bottom line, it's a financial thing for me, and also a time issue. The Suny Empire State College classes can be taken online, still-that's more time I have to spend on a class.

Anyway, I'm going to see what happens with my application. I have pretty good grades and 80 overall for TEAS. I really need to find out more once it's all finalized. I don't think it was fair for them to blast us with all these changes while we are still applying-it makes me uneasy that I can't make a decision right now.

You didn't get in with those grades? I don't know what chance I have then. When you applied, did you apply for day or evening?

I didn't get in last semester, but i believe that was due to me still taking A&P 2 and not having Medical Micro done yet. I was told by the director of the nursing program they are no longer taking the language courses and and art electives. You must now take pathophysiology and english 102 done. I'm lucky because I already have this courses done. Also, the science portion of the TEAs is being taken into consideration. So far I've taken:

Eng 101: B+

Eng 102: B+

Statistics:C+

Psychology: B+

Bio Ethics: A

Lifespan:A

A&P 1: A

A&P 2: A

Pathophysiology: B+

TEAS:

Reading: 91.5

Math:93.8

Science: 76.6

English: 66.7

Average: 83.3 ( Advanced)

The way the new program is set up, I believe you don't start taking nursing classes until the 2nd semester.

I applied to both SCCC and NCC. I'm hoping to get into suffolks because I live in suffolk but i sent in the application to nassau as well just incase.

My grades are:

A&P 1: C+

A&P 2: A

Stats: A

Modern American History: A

English 101: A

English 102: A

Psych: C+

Im currently taking Micro, West Civ & Philosophy 101

TEAS: 79.3 advanced

The Philosophy 101 that you're taking, is that the course required by Suny Empire? I don't recall that from the information session, just the bioethics.
