  1. You can't take those NUR courses all in one semester, they are meant to be taken sequentially. As for the points I think you can look up some other threads and that should help you out, or maybe someone in the nursing dept could let you know if you call. You will still need to take a few other courses, Modern American History and a Western Civ class, and a few others. I think it's been mentioned earlier in this thread. Try to aim for 80 and above for the TEAS, because even if they say passing is 58.5 (iirc), you want to go higher than that
  2. Hey just wanted to let you know I just got a voice mail about the interviews. I'm going to have to call back and tell them I won't go bc change of plans and I'll reapply next year Hopefully you get a call soon!
  3. When I went to the info session early this month, they didn't say it was official, it was 99% going to happen but paperwork etc had to be signed/approved. It seems to be official now, when you look at the site
  4. https://www.ncc.edu/programsandcourses/academic_departments/nursing/routes_for_admission-1.shtml I see in that link, that after the 5th semester, the associate degree is earned. The only reason I'm conscious of it is because back in the day, with Columbia U's Master's Direct Entry program, some students would leave after getting the Bachelor's degree, and forget about continuing with the rest of the program (the Master's portion). I wonder if people might try to do the same thing, but I suppose time will tell. I figure if you make it that far, might as well stick with the program since the classes from there on out would be all online. I'm a little annoyed that they decided to add those extra history and western civ courses into the associate degree portion of the program, but I suppose I'd suck it up and power through it all if I get accepted. Now I'm wondering if NCC would help students get nursing jobs when they pass the NCLEX, and what do you do if you don't pass NCLEX on your first try.
  5. Really? That makes me feel better about reapplying next year for the night program them
  6. It can be a bit confusing. The site says it is a "dual degree" program. I'd say it's more of a path, because it sounds like you could just leave when you earn your Associate's and pass the NCLEX if you wanted to, but the classes after you get your Associate's are all online courses (SUNY Empire courses), so maybe it wouldn't be so bad. My only concern is that the part of the program where you're earning your Associates has all these extra courses that you don't commonly see in other Associate degree Nursing programs such as Modern American History or Western Civ and Human Development. Those courses are from SUNY Empire and are therefore online, but that just adds to your load, when I don't see anything else comparable in other Associate's programs.
  7. The last time I called admissions to check up on my application, the woman who answered said they will go out early May, but from previous threads, I gathered that they go out late April, so ?. Will keep this thread posted if I see anything
  8. How did you hear that about 24 for evening and 66 for day-is that for Fall 2019? I applied for day for Fall 2019 but I'm starting to reconsider, and just reapply again for Fall 2020 for evening. Evening just sounds like I'd have less of a problem getting around everywhere, as I don't drive, and I believe the hospital for evening is NYU Winthrop in Mineola, and the LIRR is right there
  9. You could try taking it at Monroe? Iirc that's the school in the Bronx that they say offers the Teas very often, I think they said every day? I think if your score is 80 or above, and you took most of the prerequisites (with high enough grades) you should be ok
  10. Hey everyone, looks like they updated the new BSN schedule online https://www.ncc.edu/programsandcourses/academic_departments/nursing/routes_for_admission-1.shtml
  11. The Philosophy 101 that you're taking, is that the course required by Suny Empire? I don't recall that from the information session, just the bioethics.
  12. You didn't get in with those grades? I don't know what chance I have then. When you applied, did you apply for day or evening?
  13. They showed us a sample of the proposed schedule once the BSN program is finalised and honestly I still have doubts. I wish I sat closer so I could have snapped a pic of the screen, but the first semester for example includes Bioethics (if you didn't take it), Modern American History (which sounds like US History post civil war, which I already took). Apparently, the Modern American History (which is an Empire State College class) is an upper level class and the class I took is a lower level class so it sounds like I'd have to take it again-which is what I am NOT trying to do. Also, in the 2nd or 3rd semester there is a Western Civ class, which I have never seen in any RN to BSN bridge program. I'm not too pleased with the proposed changes. I saw a Sociology class that deals with Aging which sounds ok, but the other classes sound unnecessary. Bottom line, it's a financial thing for me, and also a time issue. The Suny Empire State College classes can be taken online, still-that's more time I have to spend on a class. Anyway, I'm going to see what happens with my application. I have pretty good grades and 80 overall for TEAS. I really need to find out more once it's all finalized. I don't think it was fair for them to blast us with all these changes while we are still applying-it makes me uneasy that I can't make a decision right now.
