Fall 2019 Nassau Community College Nursing Program

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all! I’ve searched around & haven’t seen any threads on the Fall 2019 NCCC Nursing program applicants so I decided to start one. I would love to hear from current applicants, current/past students, family or friends of NCCC nurses. Any feedback is appreciated. Feel free to join in & let’s chat! ?

The last time I called admissions to check up on my application, the woman who answered said they will go out early May, but from previous threads, I gathered that they go out late April, so ?. Will keep this thread posted if I see anything

I think it varies insanely. I got my decision from Suffolk on Friday but my cousin didn’t get hers until May last year! We both got in though. It’s like psychological torture! Hah

Great thanks! Hoping we all get in!

You have great grades and scores.. I cannt believe u didnt make it last semester. Do you know the cut off points por last semester?..They only different from your last application is Biomed?

Forgot that I didn’t take bio med and micro. So I guess I now have an additional 20pts. Seems like the average for day is 130-145 while the night program is like 100-110pts

Out of curiosity, is anyone else confused with bachelor program ? NCC is a bachelors degree Or there is just a path to get 4 year?

When are acceptance letters/emails supposed to go out?

Early May for NCC

I applied last semester and didn't get in but my TEAs weren't great and I didn't finish micro. This is what I have

english 1: A

english 2: A-

lifespan: A

Psych: A

Stats: B

A&P1: A

A&P2: A

Micro: B

TEAS

Reading: 91.5%

Math: 96.9%

Science: 78.7%

English: 79.2%

I think that gives me 155.25 points. I really hope thats enough to get in this time around!

It can be a bit confusing. The site says it is a "dual degree" program. I'd say it's more of a path, because it sounds like you could just leave when you earn your Associate's and pass the NCLEX if you wanted to, but the classes after you get your Associate's are all online courses (SUNY Empire courses), so maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

My only concern is that the part of the program where you're earning your Associates has all these extra courses that you don't commonly see in other Associate degree Nursing programs such as Modern American History or Western Civ and Human Development. Those courses are from SUNY Empire and are therefore online, but that just adds to your load, when I don't see anything else comparable in other Associate's programs.

From what I’m reading it wouldn’t make sense to leave after the NCLEX because you take Bachelor level classes through Empire from the start. I’m not sure if you CAN either bc I didn’t see Associate as an option anymore, so I’m sure they wouldn’t leave a loophole for people to do that. It seems like you don’t get your Associate after the 2 years but you can sit for the NCLEX after the 2nd or 3rd? I’m not sure if that’s possible though. You then complete the Bachelor through Empire.

I agree that it just adds to course work. You don’t start clinical right away either.
