Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all! I’ve searched around & haven’t seen any threads on the Fall 2019 NCCC Nursing program applicants so I decided to start one. I would love to hear from current applicants, current/past students, family or friends of NCCC nurses. Any feedback is appreciated. Feel free to join in & let’s chat! ?

Hello! Can someone please help me calculate my points to apply for the NCC BSN program. I have all my pre requisite courses done. If I were to get in I would basically be taking the Associate’s courses such as NUR101, NUR105, NUR203, and NUR 204. Would I even be allowed take these 4 courses in one semester considering all my pre reqs are done!? Below I have included all my grades required towards the BSN! I'm not sure what classes they won't bother looking at. I just included all the courses that were listed. Thanks in advance for your help! Best of luck to all that have applied!

(COMPOSITION 1) ENG 101= C+

**+ I’ve never been in any nursing program

** I still have to take my TEAS

You got a lot of classes, so that’s good.

4 credit class = 4 times the number gpa (Patho would be 4 x 3 = 12 points)

3 credit class= 3 times the number goa

nassau resident is 10points

never been in a program is 5 points

by the way, cut off for this fall was end of March I think. Are you trying to apply for spring?

@CourtneycakesIf you have a majority of pre reqs done you have a better chance at getting in. I passed by the Nursing Department today and the lady told me some girl only had 3 classes done and she had a 4.0 GPA and SHE DID NOT GET IN. I truly hope you do get in! They do not mention a minimum GPA, but from previous post I have read you want to have at least a 3.0 GPA. I would have applied if I found out sooner. I found out about the program through this forum!

@Zaier123 I wish I would have found out sooner about the BSN opening. I found out just recently way past the deadline. I passed by the office and they told me they will be releasing dates for the deadline soon for the Spring entry. The lady told me it might be sometime in October for the deadline. I'm not sure if it's worth applying for me if it is going to take me 2 years to finish only the 4 Nursing Associate's classes.

You should look into adelphi if you interested in faster bsn. Just researching, it seems to be to be a pretty easy program but only bad thing is it is a private school.

@Zaier123 I can't go to Adelphi because they do no take repeated courses-.- They take the first grade you got and that's that...

Thanks for the info! I’ve completed almost all of the pre-requisites even Pathophysiology, English 102, American History and Western Civilization. The only liberal arts course I would need to take is the Sociology of aging. I got mostly A’s and Bs on the prereqs and my gpa is a 3.5. I’ve never been in a nursing program and nassau resident. The only thing I’m worried about is my TEAS scores Reading 76 Math 82 Science 68 and English 62. Hopefully they are good enough to get in.

You should look into St. Joseph’s College or LIU too. St Joseph’s started a Generic BSN programs at both their brooklyn and long island campuses. LIU recently started one at their CW Post campus. You dont have to any entrance exam like the TEAS or npax.

I will be applying to both LIU Post&Brooklyn campus. I heard LIU POST is already full for fall entry. I am waiting to finish my Chemistry course-.- . I hate Chem, its my second time retaking the course. I wish it wasn't part of the requirement. I won't be applying to SJC because they also want Organic Chemistry-.- . I have already spent a lot of time in school and do not wish to push back to take more classes.

Oh wow! I didn’t know SJC requires organic chemistry. I hate chemistry too! Ive heard good thinga about the LIU brooklyn program from a couple if friends who attended. I havent anything about their CW post. You should also check Phillips School of nursing they have an accelerated AA degree and ABSN if you already have a bachelors. They do require a semester of Chemistry though. Good Luck!

You can't take those NUR courses all in one semester, they are meant to be taken sequentially. As for the points I think you can look up some other threads and that should help you out, or maybe someone in the nursing dept could let you know if you call. You will still need to take a few other courses, Modern American History and a Western Civ class, and a few others. I think it's been mentioned earlier in this thread.

Try to aim for 80 and above for the TEAS, because even if they say passing is 58.5 (iirc), you want to go higher than that

we should get our decision letter April 20ish based off previous years. Good luck everyone. Less than two weeks!

I’m guessing it’ll be the week of the 22nd. At the information session the admission directors said late April and when I handed in my application the office said early May. They prob want to give themselves a little wiggle room so the office isn’t flooded with calls.
