Since we had these threads when I was in A&P I and II, and I thought I'd start one for Microbiology. Anybody else delving into the world of bacteria and viruses this fall? Let's start a support thread! Let's share our victories and failures, exchange study tips, and cheer each other on.
My first lecture and lab classes are tomorrow. I'm looking forward to this class.
I'm so glad the semester is halfway over. I enjoy listening in lecture, lab is somewhat interesting (though right now we are just flying through various micro tests because in the next couple of weeks we will be given unknowns to do tests on and figure out ourselves), but I'm tired!I got a B on my lab exam last week and an A on lecture. And there is another lab exam in two weeks...
Great job everyoneMy question how many tests, projects and papers do you have?
Tests: 4 in lab, 4 in lecture (including finals)
Projects: 2 in lab (testing for the identity of unknowns)
Papers: 1 in lab (short paper about an infectious disease)
In lecture I also have weekly quizzes and chapter quizzes, and in lab I also have weekly quizzes. It is a lot to keep up with; that's why I keep a planner with me almost all the time!
Great job everyoneMy question how many tests, projects and papers do you have?
In lecture, we have 4 exams plus the final exam. In lab, we have the midterm and final practical/written exams and an unknown that counts as part of our final.
Other than that, we have online T/F lecture homework for every chapter and MC prelab homework for every lab activity.
Great job everyoneMy question how many tests, projects and papers do you have?
Lecture: 4 exams (5 if you have to take the final; I'm planning on being exempt) and 1 two page paper
Lab: 4 exams, 4 quizzes, several pre-lab checks, a microscope quiz, an 'unknown microbe' project
Both classes offer bonus work as well.
I cannot believe it....I ended up getting the only A in the class on lecture exam #2. I thought for sure I had either a high C or low B on that exam, it was so incredibly tough!!! I thought he had given me the wrong test at first :)
We've got one more week before we start our Unknown identification project in lab. Looking forward to it!

Our 3rd lecture test is next week covering viruses, immunity and epidemiology. Lab midterm is on the 30th. I guess I should go do some studying.
