Since we had these threads when I was in A&P I and II, and I thought I'd start one for Microbiology. Anybody else delving into the world of bacteria and viruses this fall? Let's start a support thread! Let's share our victories and failures, exchange study tips, and cheer each other on.
My first lecture and lab classes are tomorrow. I'm looking forward to this class.
Earned a 96% on my 3rd exam this morning. Considering all the personal junk I was stressing over when I went in, I'm extremely pleased with that A.
Our Lab midterm is next Tuesday, so I'll be doing some studying. My lab partner and I practiced gram staining today in anticipation of our end-of-semester unknowns. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we'll get at least one more opportunity to practice.
I'm glad most of you are doing well...really! This class is killing me! I have a 4.0 in my pre-reqs so far, including A&P so I'm not stupid. I studied my butt off for exam #2 today and I may have failed it. I was confident going in but the questions seemed to be in another language! I attend all of the extra study sessions and I ask questions in class. I just don't understand the way this professor comes up with his questions. OK, thanks for letting me vent. I will try to get through this!
Hey I wanted to chime in. I am taking my lab practical next thursday and I am dumbfounded. I have no I dea what I need to study. I have been so focused in my other classes and the lecture portion of Micro that my mind has been a revolving door for Micro lab.. How did yall or are yall going to study for you practicals?(assuming you have practicals). After that then we start our unknowns.
Thanks.

We get a study guide outline for the lab exam but basically it's STUDY EVERYTHING we did in class. We have to ID things (what test is this? what is is used for?), we have to write the steps for procedures (in detail, i,e, time of incubation, what organism we used, what temp the water was, etc), she asks questions from videos we watch, and anything in any handout or in our textbook is fair game. She does T/F, multiple choice, matching, and short answer.

We have a study guide in our lab manual, but like RunnerRN, it mentions just about everything we learned in class. Our midterm will be part practical/part written, so I guess I'll be studying the entire first half of my lab manual this weekend.
FIVE MORE WEEEEEEEKKKSSS! So close to the end that I can almost taste it, but not really, cause I think that tasting a blood agar plate would be disgusting, and possibly cause an illness, in which case I would be too sick to take the final and ultimately fail the class and have to take it again. Did I say 5 more weeks!!!!
