Fall 2012 Microbiology Students -- STAND UP!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Since we had these threads when I was in A&P I and II, and I thought I'd start one for Microbiology. Anybody else delving into the world of bacteria and viruses this fall? Let's start a support thread! Let's share our victories and failures, exchange study tips, and cheer each other on.

My first lecture and lab classes are tomorrow. I'm looking forward to this class.

Specializes in Hospitalist Medicine.
FIVE MORE WEEEEEEEKKKSSS! So close to the end that I can almost taste it, but not really, cause I think that tasting a blood agar plate would be disgusting, and possibly cause an illness, in which case I would be too sick to take the final and ultimately fail the class and have to take it again. Did I say 5 more weeks!!!!

LMAO, dsb_fam! Too funny!!! :roflmao: :cheeky: :lol2:

Licking a blood agar plate! BLECK! You should try a MSA with Staphylococcus aureus on it! :roflmao:

Nope, too salty....lol

I just had my second lecture exam. It sucked --prokaryotes, eukaryotes, algae, fungi, endospores, teichoacid, lsp, gram +, gram -, peptidoglycan, mycoplasmas, mycobateria, cell wall, cell membrane, cell envelope, glycoalyx, and much much more! I don't know my grade yet. I will find out next week. I will be so glad when this semester is over. I will be counting down the weeks!

2nd lecture exam was today. Wow! That was a killer!!! Glycolysis, oxidative decarboxylation, Kreb's cycle, oxidative phosphorylation, fermentation, enzymes, antimicrobials, modes of action & spectrum of antimicrobials, mearsuring bacterial growth & laboratory procedures. It was SOOOO much to cover this time. I'll be surprised if I even get a B on this one. We had 50 questions of multiple choice, true/false, fill in the blank & short answer plus EIGHT essay questions  I'm so glad I have bonus points saved up from my quizzes to apply to this exam.

This semester is now officially halfway over...yay!!!! :D :D :D

WYS! :barefoot:

Wow - this thread in on page #2 already! I had exam #3 today (I think I did pretty well)! That leaves one exam, one final and one lab final (plus a disease presentation the week after Thanksgiving). There are a lot of chapters we have to get in between now and the end of the semester! I have 10 more actual classes left! Now, just waiting the 10 days to find out my exam score....:whistling:

Hi Alewis55

Which university are you taking your micro class with?

I'm actually at Macomb Community College in Michigan.

100% ON MY LAB MIDTERM TODAY! (Yes, I'm happy, happy, H-A-P-P-I, happy!)

10 days? Are you serious or exaggerating? I would go nutzo if I had to wait 10 days for my grade. Heck, it drove me crazy to wait 5 hours for my midterm exam grade today. :nailbiting:

So good news bad news

Our school has been closed this week due to Sandy, but I'm a LPN and have been mandated at work for days.

I have a lecture test on Tuesday, and haven't started studying yet.

I need encouragement and a kick in the butt.

Completely serious. We took the test Monday and we will not get them back until the following Wednesday.
