Everyone Starting Nursing Courses Fall 2010

Published

I know it's a little early to be starting this thread since most people have just applied and all but I've been waiting to start this FOREVER. On tuesday I register for my last four pre-reqs. It took me three years to get all of them done for my BSN program. I'm taking my HESI A2 entrance test in January which I'm studying for right now, but I'm so anxious to get the rest of this semester and next semester over with.

Hopefully we'll keep this thread going until next May or June when everyone has their acceptances and start getting their infomation folders and what not. :yeah:

I will also be applying for this Spring for entrance into the Fall 2010 Nursing Program. I will have a full load of classes this semester that include a&p2 and micro but I have to have my sciences out of the way or at least in progress.

I'm so confused. It seems that many of the posters here have many of the core classes yet to complete. How did you get into your programs with these classes still in progress? I didn't apply until this round because I just completed Micro and Physio last Spring 09.

My school doesn't have a seperate application for nursing. So when I applied to the school in general, I got in as a pre-nursing student and when you finish all the pre-reqs, you automatically begin your professional phase (granted you keep your GPA at 2.8 or higher, a C+ overall average in your science courses and pass the entrance exam). So your acceptance isn't pending, your ability to take the nursing courses are. So if you're a pre-nursing student, you're ACTUALLY a pre-nursing student. There's a spot there for you unless you don't meet GPA and entrance exam requirements.

I have 4 pre-reqs left since the school requires you to take all college requirements before starting the nursing courses. Unless I happen to fail or get lower than a C in all four of those classes, all I have to do is pass the HESI A2 with a 75 or higher and I can start my professional phase without any other application processes.

So, I am applying in 2010 like most of you and had replied to this thread a little while back. I have just attended my last "nursing information session" for the third school I am applying to and the nerves have finally set in. I have a bachelors in Marketing and never really thought Nursing would be a field I'd go for...until I worked two different jobs in the 'business world' and hated it! I thought of my priorities and what I wanted out of my job and life and this feels like the perfect path for me. Because of pre-requesites I decided to apply to an ADN program to begin. I do not have the A&P's or Microbiology. I took the NLN but haven't received my scores yet.

The reason why I am so nervous now is because last night at the info session the woman said if you have A&P I and/or II it only increases your chances of getting in because you get more points towards acceptance. I think, well that is ok, I still have a good shot. I decide to ask her "do most of the applicants already have the A&Ps" (just to see how low my odds really are)...and she said 90% of applicants have already taken at least A&P I. At this point my only hope (I feel) is to get on the wait list at any of these schools or to score a 100% on the NLN (which is NOT going to happen...I definitely guessed on every single science question).

I don't mean to be pessimistic...I am the type of person that likes to see the glass as half full...but after yesterday, it is very hard to do so. I would take A&P I in January to at least increase my chances of getting in...but the grade has to be submitted by February first or it doesn't count.

sad day :( :o

*sigh* Wow. So I just read everyone's post and I guess I am just as hopeful. Just like 95% of the people that posted I am applying for Fall 2010. Next semester will be a full load including APII, Intro to Philosophy, Developmental Psych, World Literature, and World History. It's going to be super hard. Hopefully I get accepted. During my winter break I am going to studying for the NET (it's the last year that they will administer this test at my school) and hopefully I score well on that. So far, it's hard but I remain hopeful.

I attend Baltimore City Community College now and am applying for Coppin State's Nursing Program. Hopefully I get accepted and if not I will be looking to apply to Towson, Morgan State, UMBC, or Community College of Baltimore County. I may even try going back to Anne Arundel but idk. I am banking on the one school for now since I will have all of the pre-nursing classes completed.

Good luck to all.

whats the difference between a&p1/2 and just regular general human anatomy and physiology... our classes dont usee this anp1/2 i find it confusing... n if im done with my courses.. in SUmmer2010 at end of summer... am i really applying for fall2010? or is that just stretching it... i forgot you have to apply ahead of time or something..

This spring I take my last 5 pre-reqs (plus 1 required for my A.S.). I sent in my application to the University of Colorado (UCHSC) BSN program in September. This is the last time you can still be doing pre-reqs and apply - they have just changed their application process.

I find out in March if I got accepted (or not). My first choice is the summer start, but I will gladly take the January 2011 start! If I don't get in this time, then I will apply again in May for the summer 2011 start. I'm hoping I can come back in March and post to say I got in!!

Good luck everyone!!

I know AP I & II go hand in hand. One is pretty broad things like where all of the bones, muscles, and everything are and generally what they do. The other gets more descriptive. At my school we also have BIO 107 that combines AP I and II. I hope that helps. I suppose all schools are different. Also General AP is generally found in high schools.

ehh i guess i guess we are taking the same stuff.. tamatoe. tomato.. idk.... im guessing they are similar.. otherwise you wouldnt need 4 sciences i know thats just all around required.. micro anatomy physiology english.. some require you to take bio and chem.. which is what mine does.. so i guess same stuff diff toilet lol.. thx for a better understanding.. maybe your school is tougher.. ours requires just those... ive heard of anp together but its a year long.. same stuff u just learn a little each semester of both subjects.. but at my particular one is just wam bam half and half.. our shool is one of the best.. in cali fromwhat i hear.. AVC that is.. so guess ill be ok .. ty again=) but seems like most use ap1/2

They are the same thing just cover the material differently A&P I/II teach Anatomy and Physiology together. In my school we had Human Anatomy and Human Physiology. They just take the Anatomy parts from I and II and make them their own class and then take the physiology parts from I and II and make that another class.

I have 3 prerequisite classes remaining prior to applying for nursin school at Wright State. The deadline for fall admision is June 30th 2010. My remaining classes are English 102, A&P I, and Microbiology. English and A&P I are scheduled for the winter quarter and will schedule Micro for the Spring quarter. My GPA so far is pretty good so far, so hopefully I will get accepted into the program.
