So the application for the Fall 2015 BSN traditional/ ABSN/MSN has just opened up. I thought it may be nice to start a thread so any of the applicants can check on each others processes and get to know one another..
Nursingfanatic, who knows. I'm in a similar boat as zoikers... 3+ years counseling college students on birth control and STIs, 1 year doing therapeutic horse riding w/kids with disabilities, a food bank fundraiser for babies, community presentations to older adults & preschoolers, anatomy lab TA, research assistant, and I conducted a hospital wide needs assessment for patient education a very large, well known hospital and wrote a grant proposal for the requested materials. And I now am a hospice companionship volunteer and a CNA at an assisted living facility. So I have a pretty diverse background, but not a whole lot of clinical experience. Other than I know how to do EKGs because of the research lol
I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for those of you on the waitlist. The advantage you have is that these are some of the earliest decisions to go out among all direct entry programs, so MUCH more decisions will be released in the weeks/months to come, potentially opening up many spots for you. :)
@lagirl_1989 Oh maybe it is! I am not too sure about that.
I did take the GRE because I was dead set on the ABSN/MSN program at first. Then I changed my mind and wanted to do the ABSN.... :)

alright, so I got excited and made an FB group...let me know if you have trouble accessing it!
to those of you on the waiting list, I wish you the best!
I got accepted too! I don't remember if I've posted here before though. If I don't get into any of the schools in the Tri-State area, I'll probably be choosing Emory
Edit: Do you know when we get a letter with more information? The online decision on Opus says that we'll receive something "later" in the week. I assume it'll be this week?
Hello all!
I applied to the MSN program only for acute care. Our apps were due Jan 15th so I probably wont hear until March. I did want to get an idea of anyone looking for housing/apartments around emory. I've looked on craigslist, but I would much rather live with a nursing student. Feel free to message me if you are moving to atlanta around June/July. Also, I have 2 cats, just throwing that out there lol.
Thanks!
zoiKers

@NURSINGFANATIC I didn't have much clinical experience but I did have experience volunteering with children, elderly, adults, and the homeless since I want to be an Family NP. My GPA wasn't as high as yours and definitely not 4.0 in pre-reqs. I had CNA certification too but I don't know if that's a big part of it. I think for waitlist you are probably a certain number on the waitlist and they'll probably contact you if spaces open up depending on your number so I think you still have a decent chance if people decide to go to other programs.
