I thought I would start this topic for those of us in process of enrolling or just enrolled and working on the exams, a way to keep up with each other thru the process. I thought it may help keep us motivated by motivating each other and keep everyone updated on our progress thru the program.
For me: I'm just starting out. I am waiting on my eval to come back right now, but I have completed all my Gen Ed's except for Info Lit and have taken Transitions already. I'm taking Health Safety this week and hope to enroll by the end of the week, before the July 1 deadline and get started on the next exam.
I'm 29 and an LPN in VA currently. I plan to license in NC and work there upon completion. I am hoping to finish all my exams by December 2011.
Hi I'm winter and I will join the group, I have been a LPN since April 07. I am in the process of waiting for EC to evaluate my transcripts. I am studying for both transitions and health/safety and plan to take them in a few weeks. I have already taken and passed life span psych, micro, and pathophysiology through EC. I have all my gen completed and I plan to enroll in august and fly through the last nursing exams. Then on to FCCA/CPNE
Scorpio, when are you testing for transitions? What are you studying? What books did you get? That is the next exam I plan on taking. Happy studies.
I downloaded the content guide from the EC website. I also purchased a downloadable study guide for Transitions from E-Bay and it had majority of the information that was outlined in the content guide from EC. I haven't set a date for Transitions yet, but hopefully I will feel comfortable enough to take it by the end of July at the latest. I have found Saunders NCLEX, Taylor's Fundamentals, and the complete Nursing Made Incredibly Easy series to be very helpful so far.

Best of luck to you! You seem to be off to a great start!

Welcome! Wow... you've done a lot so far!
Hi. Wondering what study material are you using. My name is lacresha I live in georgia and just finished taking all my general education classes. I have sent ec my admission information. I was ok informed I can study and take the first two test. So looking for directions on what to expect. What materials to buy.
Hello to all! Just bought the studygroup101 transitions cd and started studying it. BORING info I might add! I've been reading tons of threads thru here for the past few months. Great people to learn from!
My eval is done with EC and am starting the RN journey. Have a few gen ed classes left, but gonna squeeze those in between exams. Good luck to all and don't be afraid to ask a dumb question, because it isn't dumb..we are all learning here!

The Excelsior bookstore site has a list of required books for the nursing courses. I ordered some (but not all) of the required books from textbooksrus.com I ordered the prior edition because they cost so much less than the newest edition. E-Bay and Amazon are also good places to buy the required texts. I personally like the Nursing Made Incredibly Easy books because they help me better understand the material better. I have read on other posts that the Fundamentals, Med/Surg, Peds, and Saunders books were good to have so those are the books that I ordered. Make sure you download the content guides for each exam from the EC website because it tells you exactly what to study.
Good Luck on HS tomorrow. Let me know how it goes, I take mine on Thursday. I took the first practice exam and got a 62, I am taking the next one tomorrow and going back over them both before the exam, multiple times. I'm calling the admissions office tomorrow because I had to sign an additional form because VA doesn't allow licensing by exam for EC grads and I have to sign a form acknowledging it......this will be the second time I've had to sign it.
GOOD LUCK on HS tomorrow!! :hpygrp:
Congratulations Scorpio!! I passed Reproductive Health today with an A!! Not sure how I managed that one. There were some things on there I had never even heard of. :) Well, I think I'm going to take transitions next and then I'll just have the lifespan ones left. I'm sure those are the hardest ones!! LOL Good luck every one!!!!
CONGRATS, LPNcindylouwho!! Good job! :yeah:

Awesome, congrats to all of you who passed today. Hopefully I can say the same thing Thursday with Health Safety. I spoke to Admissions today and they finally have everything they need and my status is now "initial review". Not sure what that means. She said it takes 3 weeks to get an eval......but I was told last week it would be 1 week. I'm going to call again on Thursday for an update. At this point I'm stuck because I can't get access to the content guides for the next exam without enrolling and even if I did enroll this week, not sure they would allow me access anyway. I just want to keep the momentum going and not be waiting around for 3 weeks while I could be studying for Chronicity.
