  1. And MI is when blood flow to a portion of the heart is occluded, causing injury to the heart due to a lack of oxygen. Cardiac arrest happens when there is no effective contraction of the heart, or none at all.
  2. I studied for a month using vangonotes and the college network manual. I passed with a B. I probably was ready after three weeks, but better safe than sorry. This material can be very dry. Its tough, especially for me, to get motivated to study micro, but it actually was kind of interesting when to apply the concepts and info to nursing. Good Luck.
  3. They are 2 separate exams. I would also recommend the practice exams as well, if this is your first time taking an Excelsior exam. Good luck.
  4. straighterline.com for a and p, not sure about micro
  5. Great job..what material did you use to study?
  6. I just passed this exam today as well. All I can say is...Critical thinking, critical thinking, etc...tons of therap. communication stuff. Don't forget to look at your pharmacology book! Happy studying to all.
  7. You were misinformed. Each test is 275. That is the fee you pay to test out as a distance learner. It is not times 3. The practice exams are 75. There is an enrollment fee around 900, but that can be broken up into payments.
  8. You must pay for the exams before registering for them(through Excelsior..very easy to do via website)...you will get a confirmation from Excelsior stating you are ready to schedule the exam...very simple process..it is all explained in email.
  9. I used studygroup101 and practice exams. Studied for about 4 weeks and got a B. I was ready after 2.5 to 3 weeks to take it but had prior obligations to take care of. I just purchased the Saunders NCLEX and would highly recommend picking one up. As far as the practice tests, I take them right away. After doing so, I study each question and each answer thoroughly to make sure I understand the concept. Good luck and PM me if you have questions. Good luck to all.
  10. Hi to all...I am writing this post purely to motivate everyone out there that has doubts about distant learning, teaching oneself, and fear of the unknown. This was me in a nutshell. I had some great motivation from several of you on here while I began studying for my FIRST Excelsior exam. But I still wasn't 100% sure this was the way for me. I was really confused as to whether or not this was DOABLE. I went into the test this morning not stressing because if I didn't pass I would just go the traditional route..... Well...after two hours of testing and getting handed the sheet with the grade on it...I couldn't have gotten a better confidence booster than passing this test. I know many of you have just passed your CPNE and I congratulate all of you for your hard work and determination. But WOW..it feels awesome to get the first one out of the way! I know this is test number 1, so I cannot say its gonna be smooth sailing from here(which I know it won't be), but I now have much motivation and confidence to get this done! I studied for about a month..used Studygroup101 notes and bought the EC practice exams. I highly recommend purchasing them. I dissected the heck out of each question. I did poorly on them early on, but learned a ton on how each question should be answered. Please do not congratulate me for passing this test. Its only the first, and many to go. I appreciate it in advance, but I am truly writing to motivate everyone out there that this can be done. I am definately not the smartest person in the world, but with a little desire and determination, there isn't much that can stop that. Good luck to all and onto Health Safety.
  11. Dissecting the practice exams for transitions test on the 20th. Trying to make it enjoyable! Happy studying to all. Beachnurse84, keep up the good work! Continue to motivate yourself to nail the CPNE. I'm sure you will knock it out of the park...
  12. I take transitions on the 20th. I have studygroups 101 and have taken the practice tests. I got 60 on both prior to doing any real studying. What i am doing now is taking each practice question and basically dissecting it, I feel this is the best way to teach myself. I will comment after i take the real test. Good luck to all.
  13. Studying transition to rn role for a test date in a 2 weeks. Wow, what non motivating information! Good luck to all!
  14. I am just getting started in the program. I am a fire medic in Florida with no hospital experience..although we run several calls where i am stationed. I wouldn't let the NO EXPERIENCE thing stop you from doing this program. There may be people on this site that frown upon it, but the bridge program is there for a reason. Good luck to all.
  15. Hello to all! Just bought the studygroup101 transitions cd and started studying it. BORING info I might add! I've been reading tons of threads thru here for the past few months. Great people to learn from! My eval is done with EC and am starting the RN journey. Have a few gen ed classes left, but gonna squeeze those in between exams. Good luck to all and don't be afraid to ask a dumb question, because it isn't dumb..we are all learning here!
