  1. I am currently taking A&P II with lab. You must have enrolled before excelsior came out with the "policy alert" that JustBeachyNurse alluded to in order to get approval. Also, approval is granted for a six month period. So, be sure that it is listed in the course approval section under "My Details" on the excelsior web site. If it is not, just send them an e-mail asking them to approve again. When I stated enrolled, you must have been officially enrolled in the excelsior nursing program before they came out with the new policy change. If you did, the new policy does not affect you.
  2. This may have been asked but are there older students in the program. Say, in their 50's?
  3. I have contacted excelsior regarding this policy and it only affects you if you enrolled in excelsior after Oct. 1, 2012.
  4. Wow, how did you complete the course in two weeks?
  5. Go to the exam center, go to specific topic quiz and once the quiz pops up tap on the smaller font quiz heading just below the larger one above it. Ex. Topic 4 quiz. Tap on the same heading just below it but in a smaller font....hope that was not confusing.
  6. Has anyone taken microbiology and pharmacology at the same time while working full time?
  7. Just took information literacy. I took about a week to complete it. It can be done in a shorter time period and as it has been stated it is open book. Highly recommend Penn Foster. Very cost effective.
  8. Great two hear. I just completed info. Lit. I was going through straighterlines website, I will be starting A&P 1, when I came across your post. Did you buy a specific kit or did you have to piece it together?
  9. Will the classes that are not yet offered on the nursing pathway prerequisites (ie. microbiology, microbiology w/lab, and Biochemistry) be offered by SL? And if so, is there a time line?
  10. Thanks Robin, your story is inspirational! You have given me more confidence that this program is very doable. Thanks again and good luck on the nclex I know you will do great...to be continued.
  11. Inspiring journal. Congratulations!!! Could you tell me a little about your background? I am new to this site but have been lurking:lol2: and undecided about pursuing excelsior.
  12. Finally:lol2:I will do so as soon as I hit my 15 posts. I am at 13 now, new to the site but have been viewing for some time trying to decide if this is the route for me considering my background with no in-hospital experience. Your the first to respond with similar life experience...I hope.
  13. So, what are your thoughts concerning those paramedics that do not have in-hospital experience?
  14. Hello, I can't answer your question but I noticed you are a paramedic. I am also a paramedic trying to find those with a similar background as mine to see if excelsior is worth it. Can you give us some of your background and why you chose excelsior? I have 21 years of experience as a medic with no in hospital experience and still undecided about going this route. Sorry I'm off your subject. Thanks!
  15. Did you find the transition to the ED difficult with no in-hospital experience? I am also a FF/paramedic with 21 years of experiencing trying to decide if I should continue with excelsior. I have been searching this site for some time trying to find someone in a similar boat and I think your it. So, I hope your are still an active member and if anybody else reading this post knows this individual please let them know this has been posted. Thanks:)
