EC Students Summer 2011 Group

I thought I would start this topic for those of us in process of enrolling or just enrolled and working on the exams, a way to keep up with each other thru the process. I thought it may help keep us motivated by motivating each other and keep everyone updated on our progress thru the program.

For me: I'm just starting out. I am waiting on my eval to come back right now, but I have completed all my Gen Ed's except for Info Lit and have taken Transitions already. I'm taking Health Safety this week and hope to enroll by the end of the week, before the July 1 deadline and get started on the next exam.

I'm 29 and an LPN in VA currently. I plan to license in NC and work there upon completion. I am hoping to finish all my exams by December 2011.

I'm calling the admissions office tomorrow about enrolling again. I posted earlier today, I was enrolled in late 2008 and took Health Differences and Chronicity (spring 2009.) Life took me to another field for a few years, now I'm an LPN again and just want to finish my RN. I have a biology BS so I all I have left is nursing exams.

I may have to retake the two nursing exams I took two years ago, boo-hoo. But I just want to get my RN and move on with my life. There are few options for LPN's where I live, aside from LTC, which I cannot bear; I'm in Mass. I took A and P and most of my science courses 15 years ago, so I really dont want to retake anything. This site is really supportive and I hope to stick with EC this time around. I think that the aggravation and stress of the CPNE is not as bad as a whole year of taking A and P again. Nice to met you and I'm glad you started this post.

Good Luck on HS tomorrow. Let me know how it goes, I take mine on Thursday. I took the first practice exam and got a 62, I am taking the next one tomorrow and going back over them both before the exam, multiple times. I'm calling the admissions office tomorrow because I had to sign an additional form because VA doesn't allow licensing by exam for EC grads and I have to sign a form acknowledging it......this will be the second time I've had to sign it.

Hi All,

Ok... I'll join this group, too! I received my transcript review from EC last week. Even though some of my credits were old, they accepted all of them, and used all but a few. As I figured, I still need Eng 101, Dev Psych, Micro, and Info Lit. And, of course, all the Nursing Exams. I am planning on using CLEP, Straighterline, and Penn Foster for the Dev Psych, Eng 101, and Info Lit... and will probably take the EC exam for Micro. (Unless anyone knows of a better way???)

I've been a Paramedic since 1989, and have been kicking around the idea of RN for many years... in fact, since EC was called 'Regents'!! I started all my Science classes in the mid-90's, and none of the Nursing Programs in my area will accept Sciences over 5 years old. Thus, EC is ideal for my situation! I really don't have a lot of knowledge about Nursing, but my medical knowledge is pretty solid. From what I have been told, the learning curve for a Paramedic is steeper than for someone already working as a LPN. I realize the CPNE will be a huge challenge.

Just recently (ok, yesterday!) I picked up and started reading Santrock's Life-Span Development... and it is really very interesting! I've been putting off actively studying; although, I've been buying books and study materials in preparation for really jumping in. There is an issue at work that has also kept me from starting, plus I wanted to get the transcript review back before I really committed. (Didn't want to hear... "Are you KIDDING me??!! You want to use these credits from HOW many years ago??!!) :D

The work issue should be resolved in the next few days, I've got the week off... so it's time to decide 'what I want to do when I grow up'!! p.s. I'm old! :p

So glad you started this thread, and I think it will be one of my favorites!!

Welcome, Autumn Graves! And I say GO FOR IT!! Even though you have to retake those 2 exams, you have a good background, plus those 2 exams should be easy for you! :yeah:

Hi everyone,

I just enrolled in EC the beginning of April. I have taken Health Safety, Chronicity, Info Lit and I'm taking Reproduction tomorrow!! I am really trying to do one exam a month and hope to then take the CPNE around January. I have all of my prereqs finished - just nursing exams to do!! This site is great for support and encouragement!! I have only been an LPN for a little over a year but I'm planning on taking some workshops, etc... to study for CPNE.

We can all do this and support each other along the way. I'm happy to joint up for this group!! Thank you!!!

For English 101 I took it thru straighterline, be prepared to write a few papers though. I think it was 4. It was pretty easy to knock out in a week, I finished with a C but it was transcribed thru ACE as a Pass with a 70 or higher. I saved my papers till the end and knocked them out in 1 day and they were returned graded within 24 hours.

I took HG&D Clep weeks ago. I took it on a whim and planned on LS Development as a backup if I failed. I passed with a 51. Have not started info Lit yet, but planning to use PF to save a little cash.

Micro I took thru EC. I studied on and off for a few weeks. I downloaded the audiobook for the textbook and read thru Micro Demystified and it was enough for a B grade.

Much luck to you and keep me posted on your progress.

Hi everyone, live in Tn, ive been a lpn since november. Ive taken health safety, and transitions, im studying for chronicity now. Its good to have support!
