EC Students Summer 2011 Group

Nursing Students Excelsior

I thought I would start this topic for those of us in process of enrolling or just enrolled and working on the exams, a way to keep up with each other thru the process. I thought it may help keep us motivated by motivating each other and keep everyone updated on our progress thru the program.

For me: I'm just starting out. I am waiting on my eval to come back right now, but I have completed all my Gen Ed's except for Info Lit and have taken Transitions already. I'm taking Health Safety this week and hope to enroll by the end of the week, before the July 1 deadline and get started on the next exam.

I'm 29 and an LPN in VA currently. I plan to license in NC and work there upon completion. I am hoping to finish all my exams by December 2011.

Specializes in LTC and Med/Surg.

Hey guys! I've been a LPN since late 07, residing in SC and I've been back and forth on whether to do EC b/c (initially the CPNE fears) but also I have a MBA in hosp. admin..but can't seem to find a job..and I've always wanted to get my RN..but I figured I'd find something w/ my master's by now..but hey..while I wait..go for it, right? lol..I'm just starting out, haven't taken any test yet..still studying and low on funds..but once I get my $ together..gonna start with HS and then Transitions. I wish you all luck on your endeavors and studying!

For English 101 I took it thru straighterline, be prepared to write a few papers though. I think it was 4. It was pretty easy to knock out in a week, I finished with a C but it was transcribed thru ACE as a Pass with a 70 or higher. I saved my papers till the end and knocked them out in 1 day and they were returned graded within 24 hours.

I took HG&D Clep weeks ago. I took it on a whim and planned on LS Development as a backup if I failed. I passed with a 51. Have not started info Lit yet, but planning to use PF to save a little cash.

Micro I took thru EC. I studied on and off for a few weeks. I downloaded the audiobook for the textbook and read thru Micro Demystified and it was enough for a B grade.

Much luck to you and keep me posted on your progress.

Thanks, Nervous1... you did it exactly how I'm planning to do it. The HG&D CLEP... 51 out of how many? I did some of the Chapter tests, before reading anything, and I'm getting 70-75% correct. After studying, it's 85-100%. I am most nervous about Micro. I think I'll do the others first...

Lots of luck to you, too... and you keep me posted on your progress!

Welcome, BestSweetGal!

Hi everyone,

I'll join this group too!

I live in TN and have been a respiratory therapist for 13 years. I always wished I would have went into nursing!

I'm waiting for EC to eval my transcripts. I expect to have to take dev.pysch. I should have all the other gen. ed requirements.

Question: to clep out of pysch, do I do that through EC? I'm not sure how to go about clepping?

51 was my actual clep score, its scaled. The highest you can get is 80, there is no way to really know how many you get correct vs. incorrect on the real thing. The most important thing is 50 is passing.

Specializes in Med/Surg, Long-Term Care, Urgent Care.

Hi everyone! I passed Health Safety today with a (B) and I was very pleased. I didn't study nearly as much as I could have. I wish anyone with upcoming exams the best of luck. Now on to Transitions!!!

AWESOME, Scorpio!! Good work!!!:anpom:

Congratulations Scorpio!! I passed Reproductive Health today with an A!! Not sure how I managed that one. There were some things on there I had never even heard of. :) Well, I think I'm going to take transitions next and then I'll just have the lifespan ones left. I'm sure those are the hardest ones!! LOL Good luck every one!!!!

Congrats Scorpio and CindyLouWho on passing exams today. I got a B in Health Safety as well, and like you, I didn't really study much. Just a friendly warning, Chronicity is a more difficult exam. For chronicty, I put as much effort into my studies as Health Safety, and my grade was a C. Passing, but not verry good. Those are the only exams I took and were in 2008.

I recieved good news from admissions/bursars office today. I do not have to reapply to EC, I just need to re-enroll; although I have to pay the entire enrollement fee. I'm really glad that HS and Chronicity are still applicable and I do not need to re-test.
