  1. ******UPDATE*********Well Well..GOD IS GOOD! Here I am..6 years later after completing my studies in my BSN program (in 2006)..and I was able to come back to my old nursing school..repeat a course and took the HESI exit exam and PASSED on March 2, 2012! Yes it was years later..but I'm forever so grateful for the opportunity! It was trying..trust me..but I took my time and just studied my weak areas..didn't really use the HESI book that much..mostly Saunders. I want to thank you all that thought of me and share kind words of encouragements! For those who have a similar situation as mine...IT CAN BE DONE! It may not be when YOU want it...but with time and patience..God will make a way!

  4. Now to Lunah and LaxNurse..were you working fulltime during the program? I'm working full time and I can't imagine me finishing as quick as you guys did..wow.
  5. I think she was referring to Excelsior's practice exam vs. Excelsior actual exam. I'm only assuming that b/c we are on the distance learning forum. There are some ppl who get 60%-70% on the practice exams and get an A or B on the actual exam. C is a passing grade for Excelsior exam..doesn't give numbers..just letter grade. I hope that answers your question. Good luck!
  6. Hey guys! I've been a LPN since late 07, residing in SC and I've been back and forth on whether to do EC b/c (initially the CPNE fears) but also I have a MBA in hosp. admin..but can't seem to find a job..and I've always wanted to get my RN..but I figured I'd find something w/ my master's by now..but hey..while I wait..go for it, right? lol..I'm just starting out, haven't taken any test yet..still studying and low on funds..but once I get my $ together..gonna start with HS and then Transitions. I wish you all luck on your endeavors and studying!
  7. Hey there! I'm starting out as well, but I'm in SC, but we all could still study together online or just for encouragement. I wish you all much success! My email is [email protected]
  8. Congrats! I'm starting out as well..so behind schedule..but I'm determined. What did you use to study with? Did you only use the books suggested and/or other study aids?
  9. Congrats! I'm preparing for H&S right now and I have the recommended text and just purchased Lisa Arends notes, but noticed that the book she used is not the same as the one thats recommened for this year. Did you still use Lisa Arends notes? Was it helpful in anyway for the exam? Thanx!
  10. I wanted to know more info about the nursing program @ SC state University and when you go to the site it just list the degrees programs that they have and doesn't go into detail about the nursing program itself. Is there another site or link I can access to read more about the program? Thanx!
  11. Thanx for the words of wisdom...yes..there are others that didn't pass and the same for the classes behind me. When we first sat for Hesi...3 out of 12 passed! Sad. Then the next two times..one passed..and the third time...none. So there is really 8 of us without a nursing degree! We were devestated...but eventually got over it and ventured into other areas..but still... Just keep us in your prayers..thanx!
  12. Praise God for you guys! I finished school in 2006 and was not able to pass my exit exam and not able to graduate because of the school policy. I'm praying that God work something out and overturned that decsion. Congrats to you guys though!

  14. NCMomof2: Thanx for posting. I've signed up with Excelsior since 2007 and havent even started yet..kinda chicken out b/c of the CPNE and doubting myself. I went backwards..I went to a 4 year BSN program..did the WHOLE program..and could not pass the exit exam to get the degree and therefore I was not bable to obtain degree and reapply. I challenge my state BON and got my LPN based on my BSN school credits. My options are very slim and Excelsior is only 1 of 2 options I have. I just recently went back to school and got my MBA in hospital admin, but nursing seems to be my first love. Everyone is telling me..girl you got your MBA..forget nursing. I just can't seem to shake it. I want to try out this new career, but if the opportunity presents..I may go for it. I have the knowledge and hospital experience, I should do fine on the CPNE, right? Also money is a factor. I'm single..no kids..but a new house..loans for the prior nursing school (private school..so loans are HIGH!), and loans for recent grad school (HIGH as well!). What does the cost looks like at Excelsior so far? Thank you!
  15. Congrats to those who were accepted! I applied for Fall 2009 and didn't get in. My story is a long one. I've already matriculated throught a BSN program. Got to the last semester, and completed all my classes and everything boiled down to this one test, an exit exam called HESI. A lot of colleges swear by this exam, but my former college didn't prepare us well for it..it was kind of shady how it went down. Anyways, you only have 3 chances to pass and if you don't...oh well..pretty much. You aren't able to reapply and not able to get your nursing degree. Isn't that sad?! No matter what your GPA or grades look like (3.0 for me), everything is based on this test. That was Summer of 2006 and I wasn't able to get my nursing degree , but I was able to transfer courses and obtain a BS in health science. So I went back home (college was in AL) and challenge the SC board of nursnig to do my LPN and they granted me that chance and I've been a LPN since. I'm located in Charleston, and I didn't want to do Trident Tech b/c then I would have to do ALL my prereq's over:eek: ...I REFUSE (Already spent 4 years getting them..). I also did not want to do ANOTHER 4 years to do BSN. MUSC was my only hope. When I didn't get accepted in 2009, I just assumed maybe it wasn't my time to do nursing or maybe it wasn't for me. So I decided to go another route and look into hospital administration b/c I think I'd make a good manager. I'm proud to say that 1.5 years later (August 2010), I have my MBA in hospital administration with a 4.0! Great, right?! But NOW, nursing has been heavily on my mind and I just feel determined to not let it go. I want to take my MBA and start a new type of career and see where that takes me..but I always wind right back to the start and think about trying out nursing again. My question is this: Do you think they would give someone who have gone thru a nursing program another shot? Could that possibly be why I didnt' get in? I must admit, my SAT scores weren't so hot, but you'd think, "well she's a LPN with experience, let's give her a shot". Or could they possibly be thinking, "well she's already gone thru a program and didn't make it, so what makes her think she could get thru ours?" Even my old nursing dean sent in a reference for me if that wasn't a good enough push. What do you think? I'd appreciate your feedback. I'm thinking about applying for 2011. Thank you.
