Hey all!!!

Just want to make a forum for the Duke Nurse Residency Program. Applications are open now, and will close Feb 28th 2016.

Good luck to all! And keep us posted here!!

I sent in my app, and it has changed to "forwarded to hiring manager". Has anyone else had that change?

DAMN F'ing AWESOME!!!! Congrats!!! Surgical/trauma vs cardiac....tough choice! lol!! Both sound bomb though. When is your start day Josh!!? :) Can't wait to meet everyone too!

Hey guys! Congrats to those who have a new job waiting for them!! I interview for the neuro ICU and surgical ICU March 9th. I'm coming in from Phoenix... so excited!

How long after you got the job did you apply for the relocation grant @rayray_rn and how long did it take to approve you? I definitely need to look into that more!

I have a son so Cary is my ideal place to live. Apartments are a little more pricey but definitely worth it for the schools. This is starting to get very real! I also can't wait to meet the rest of you!

Future_RN17,

Yes I have a 13yo son as well, so I completely understand. Just me and him, so I need to be in Cary as well. :) My NC fam says Cary is a great place for families with kiddos.

They send u relocation packet right away. the grant says you will get the $3000 6-8 wks after your 1st day. but I think you need to submit the paperwork 30 days before start day. That's why they sent it to me asap, as I dont start til 3/21. Hope this helps. Relocating is the real deal guys! I'm already packing.

Interview on Feb 26! Good luck for everyone applying!

Anyone kind enough to share what the "shadow" portion of the interview entails?

Hey Guys,

I'm also graduating in May with my BSN. I go to school in Maine but I'm from Massachusetts, so I will also be relocating if offered. I got asked to interview for the CT ICU. However, with school the only time I could find to go down for my interview is not until my spring break. I'm shadowing for 2 hours and then have my interview on March 15th. This also happens to be the day of the Duke Heart Center open house. Getting a position at Duke is my dream job and I'm excited to even have an interview. I am a little nervous since the interview is still a month away. If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it!

Congrats to you all that have already received offers!!

Future rn, my shadow experience was very laid back. You really just get shown around the unit and meet the staff. I helped transport a patient to the step down unit and that was the only patient care I helped with. More of a feel out the environment.

Congrats!!! You will do great on your interview, keep us updated :-) it seems the CTICU is very popular on Allnurses! I interview on the 26th of this month in the PCICU and I'm very nervous but excited! First "big girl" job :-)

Okay that's awesome. Not as dreadful as I thought then! I was contemplating if I needed to bring a stethoscope or a clipboard for notes, etc. I really want to make the most out of this trip since I'm from out of state (but from what I've heard most said it was laid back).

Hi sdowd93 & futureRN

I just got hired in the CTICU. My shadow was super laid back...everyone is so nice. I was paired with a new grad from the bay, where im coming from. I got the lay of the land, and asked questions. It was so great...u will love the unit. The interview was so chill, basically explained the residency. I think they asked me like 3 questions ... why duke, leadership, and what i bring to the unit. Don't be nervous, be excited and show u want to be apart of the team!!

Good luck! I hope i get to see you on the unit!!

How long did it take for everyone who received an interview to hear back after submitting their application?

I'm attending the open house at Duke on February 24. Is anyone else attending? If you have attended an open house in the past, how was the process?
