In response to those who find/found nursing school easy. I want to hear from those who are finding it hard. I understand some people have found it easier than others and no offence to them, its cool they don't have to study much. But I don't find it one bit easy. So what do those who don't find it easy think???
Try not to take it to heart to much, I struggled a lot in my Pre Req science classes, I always did bad on tests, so it's a bit of a different pace for me to actually do a lot better with minimal effort. I so far for the most part do well with the NCLEX style tests, a lot better then I did on all my Pre Req exams.
With that said though, I have a feeling Med Surge is not going to come as easy.
Try to remember everyone just learns differently and are different people so someone breezing through something that you struggle on says nothing on your intelligence. Their might be an area you excell on that they struggle on. We all have our areas of weakness and struggle making it out in the end and graduating is what ultimately matters :)
I would say that God (as you know him/her/it) plans different things for different folks. Not everyone is gifted with a genius IQ. Just because you were chosen to have a path wherein you may have to struggle more....understand this....you WILL appreciate it more!
Persevere. There is nothing more valuable!
Good luck you all of you struggling!
it is hard when some say that ns is easy. omg i am 58, have been through just about everything in my life, but i have not done anything that requires more time, effort, and dedication than ns has. i do not mind, of course, i know that anything worth doing is not easy, but it is hard to see people who find it "easy". i am hanging on by a thread, and thankful that i am still hanging on.
hang in there, future nurses of america. we will get there..:yeah:
:yeah:
Book information isn't hard to understand. But- I'm also doing Fundamentals for the 2nd time. With the same book. And I think I'm absorbing it better than I did the first go around.
I'm more frustrated right now than anything else. Because on the last test, I screwed up 2 answers. Why? Because I had the RIGHT answers first, then I went and changed them! :angryfire
That's the last time I go back and change answers on a test.
It didn't help that during this test there were a whole lot of distractions going on. A cell phone on vibrate went off a million times, then one of the proctors decided to go and start removing purses out of the room, and that was WAY more distracting than the vibrating phone!
It does take a whole lot of time, effort and dedication. But if I really didn't want this- I wouldn't have busted my behind last year to try to get into ANOTHER program and then start all over again from scratch
What I find most difficult about school is the amount of work we need to do rather than the actual material itself. The material also often takes me a while to grasp, but I feel if I didn't have so many other classes and assignments at one time it wouldn't be that big of a hurdle.
I suppose that's what you call time management problems haha. Also the clinical area is very stressful, but I'm guessing that's pretty normal...at least when you've only had 4 days on the floor as I have!
I find it hard as well. The people who think it's easy...I'm happy for them. I just can't find time to get everything done. I feel like it's either a social life or a decent grade. Can't have both (or so it seems to me). Anyone else completely overwhelmed with readings and assignments???
I feel overwhelmed every time i think about nursing. Even more overwelmed with a tests is coming up. There is no much info to go over it seems implossible to know everything. i've been studying for 8 hours straight for our tests tomorrow and i feel no where ready. Not considering the 10 hours i spend on friday and saturday studying. AHH

Maybe you are over studying and not absorbing, maybe try to find some new study methods??? I mean I know that if I studied for 8 hours straight I would absorb a thing, then again I don't learn well from reading, I learn better listening to lectures or interactive activities and online practice tests, stuff like that. The thought of sitting with a book for hours upon hours is way to much for me. A lot of schools have learning centers that will test you on what methods work best for each individual. If you are studying that much and still struggling I would wonder if your study methods are effective. You could be putting in all this time and find out a different method works better and takes only 1/4 of the time and effort and show better results. Just a thought.
Thank you. Yeah, I have a really really hard time remembering things. So in order to memorize something I need to study it over and over. No, its not fun, and no it doesn't work that well because i get sick of it. But i don't know what else to do besides do the objectives, read the chapters, make flash cards, and do worksheets and stuff???? Any ideas????
1234student,
Realize that passing NS is more about "critically thinking" than it is about memorization. If you have access to the evolve website, that is a great resource (usually arranged by your NS - the evolve folks write the HESI). Get Saunders NCLEX Comprehensive Review books. Look at the end of your chapters and study the NCLEX style questions. The great thing about the evolve website is that they give you the rationales which is what you really need to pass NS.
Good Luck!

At least she was honest about it when she talked to the class.
