Do you wear makeup?

No, I don't.

I work makeup in school and I wear it now that I've been working all this time. And heck, you can't even see much because I'm in a mask and hat all day long. I don't feel dressed without it but there are plenty who don't wear it at all. I don't think it has anything to do with nursing, just personal preferences. I do think that no one should be made up heavily because it doesn't look very professional but there's nothing wrong with at least looking alive and healthy.

I don't wear any either, but I don't see how it would be a problem so long as your hair/makeup isn't excessive. You know, all things in moderation.

At age 44, I want people to still believe that Halloween comes only once a year, so yes, I wear it daily. I don't pile it on with a forklift, but just lightly enough to smooth out the rough edges! Besides, I just don't feel totally dressed without it. Just a part of my daily routine.

I wear it but i don't worry about it. It wakes me up. Plus i got sick of the fools that kept asking if i had been in an accident when they saw my dark undereye circles.

Makeup is part of my morning routine, and believe me, the world is a better place for it! :chuckle

I don't obsess about it though - it's rare that I reapply lipstick, for example, even after having a cheeseburger for lunch ... Kinda makes me laugh - I'm the polar opposite of my mother, who has been telling me that I need lipstick since I was about 12, and NEVER appears in public unless she's totally put together.

I usually only wear foundation because my skin can get blotchy. Otherwise I'd be constantly worrying about mascara running and smudging, lipstick smearing, that kind of thing. But I never was one to fuss too much with it anyway except maybe in my late teens. I have a terrible tendency to rub my eyes and wind up looking like a raccoon. :chuckle

i too wear a foundation/ powder combo....takes less then a minute to apply! But i feel i look tired w/out it....i love clinque. plus i am self consious about my skin so, it helps me feel better.

No makeup here...I always think it makes me look worse. Go figure.

I wear makeup...foundation, powder, eyebrows (I color them in with a powder...but it doesn't look like a clown or anything :wink2: ), mascara, and lipstick. No one can even tell that I wear makeup, though, because I don't wear a lot of it by any means. And I am like MLOS...I don't tend to reapply lipstick after it wears off. Occassionally I will re-powder because my skin is shiny...but otherwise I don't tend to worry about it too much.

I can say that I do NOT like to leave the house without at least my eyebrows (#1) and mascara. I am a redhead (albeit dark auburn), and my eyebrows just don't feel that full to me (although they are brown, not red, go figure).

Anyway...yes I wear makeup, no I don't stress over it (or my hair for that matter.)

No makeup during clinical and here's why. On my second clinical day, I had a full face of makeup... not excessive but it was complete with foundation and mascara. I was dealing with my second patient ever and she had a high volume rectal/GI bleed. I guess anxiety got the better of me and I started sweating like a pig. The perspiration started dripping into my eyes . My mascara started running and my eyes were burning. My eyeglasses got doused too. My hands were busy with patient care and were gloved so I had to use my white school uniform top (the upper arms) to wipe the sweat away so that it wouldn't drip on the patient. My white top was stained with flesh colored makeup and black mascara. I happened to catch my face in the mirror with my black eyes, soaked hair and reddened face.

You just never know when you're sympathetic nervous system is going to kick in so be prepared.
