  1. congradulations..........enjoy your success, you have earned it.
  2. I dyed by hair when i was preg-o and nothing bad resulted (so have the majority of my girlfriends). If you are worried, talk to your doc next time your in, or just skip it if you want piece of mind.
  3. yes, they make more. Rent, morgage, not too important....cost of living usually co-exsists with the location. For ex....when a lived in st.paul,mn acouple of yrs ago my small studio, with no kitchen or parking was 465+ utilities.....i managed this by working at a coffee shop!?! ya, you make more in bigger cities, to fit the cost of living....now i am in small town iowa where we have a 3 br......our morgage is $430 a month.......its so amazing!!!! anyways, just something to think about. Is it worth it, absolutely NOT, i miss access to the city
  4. hey everyone. quick question here, i am hoping that all of you women who have gone through this can give me some advice. i recieved a phone call yesterday informing me that i am # 1 on the waiting list to begin fundamentals this fall. now this is wonderful news, truly, but i am having a little doubt on time availability. i have an 8 month old and it has been just fine for me so far- i have been taking night classes and her dad watches her then. anyways to get to the point here, how many of you out there had/have small toddlers at home while taking pre-reqs and clinicals????? i do not want to jump in over my head-i guess i should say i don't want my daughter to suffer. maybe its subcouncious guilt..... thanks in advance for your replies, i will keep you posted on if i get in and the decision i make.
  5. how sad. I am a NURSING student whom smokes. I keep telling myself when i am done with school i will quit.....boyfriend smokes in front of me, won't quit. thanks so much for the post...its these types of smaks in the face i need!
  6. In any job out there you are going to have co-workers who are there for the pay check. In a perfect world we would all be able to follow our hearts and choose jobs based on our passions, rather then security of income. GUESS WHAT, this is not a perfect world. I can't raise my daughter with the chances that i may sell a painting today.....meaning art is a hobby, not a career, for most. There is room out there for all of us. And i think the majority of us who are entering this field for the purpose of a secure job can and will provide compassion when its needed. Just because i want a chance at providing my family with oppertunities that cannot come from my hobbies, DON"T SHOOT ME DOWN. There are enough negative vibes in the world, and once we're done and we both have our degrees, is it really going to matter who went for what reasons? We will be equals, and balance is the answer in any job setting. We hopefully will all try our hardest to make this world a little better day after day, and support one another, as co-workers. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM. I know for myself i need more friends, not enemies. -krissy
  7. I totally agree with you. I too am going into nursing because of the oppertunities. I often question myself for my decision, due to the comments like the ones above. Fellow students are always proclaiming how they discovered the need to help peolpe and its always been what they wanted to do etc......i think thats fantastic- but don't knock the people whom want a stable job so they can support themselves and their families. I just wanna say i am not in compition with anyone. There is room for all of us! :kiss I cannot stand the rudeness i feel from fellow students sometimes, we are all only human- not super saint mother threassas.....(sorry for any spelling errors.) krissy
  8. I was wondering this myself....i gave up with my daughter at 2.5 months-( regret it all the time)- krissy
  9. thanks for the replies, but no, no typing skills. We'll see whats out there..... krissy
  10. stumbled onto this site.....i used to live in northern mpls....then moved to st.paul........cathedral hill area.......most beautiful neighborhoods i have ever seen. I used to take walks at night and discover new allies, parks and coffee shops. GOD I MISS IT!!!!! The only negative thing was the cost of living. The other thing is that post above is right- once you discover the twin cities you will be a lifer..........or in my case=- a wanna be lifer. I plan to move back- prob. rochester......once i am done with school and have some money saved.............hope you twin citiens enjoy what you got.....oh ya, i miss caribou on grand ave too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -krissy
