Do you like Minnesota?
Greetings to all- Minnesota seems very nice place to live. Do you like it there? I used to live in Seattle, and unlike many other people I liked the weather. We relocated to LA because of my husband's job. I'm curious what's like to live in Minnesota. If you could tell me what you like and don't like the most about the state. I want to visit sometime.

HELP,HELP,HELP,HELP,HELP--student nurse in distress
Laura- If you have so many doubts, why did you even apply for nursing school? What made you decide to study nursing? Why don't you start from there. No pig disection is waiting for you, but you will encounter all kinds of things that may gross you out. Not only that, you have to read and read and read in nursing school. I'm not kidding and don't mean to scare you, but it's true!! You will probably find that out in the first semester/quarter. Without a strong commitment you may easily give it up. Better not to start than to quit after you spend so much time? Well, I can't answer that for you. Talk to your nursing student advisor even before you start. S/he may help you to have a bigger picture of what's like to be a nurse. English is not my primary language (I'm from Japan!) It was so difficult for me to go through the nursing school and get a BSN degree. But, it was worth of my effort. There are so many things that you can learn and contribute as an RN. Good luck to you.

Why do I feel so sad: f.u. to my post!
Yes, I think it is normal to feel sad. Making change takes courage. I am a new grad and recently made a big change at work. Even though I knew the change was better for me, I first felt like I was a failure. I was really scared. Many ??? in my head drove me nuts. "Would people be nice there?" "Is the unit good for me?" "What if I didn't like the unit?" On and on. Fortunately, it turned out to be a smooth transition. I like people there and found myself very comfortable there. Take your time to get used to the change and let go of your past. You can better take care of your health and everything else with your new job, yeah? Good luck on your new path!

Nurses caps!
Yes, many of the nurses in Japan (I am from Japan) still wear caps and dress uniform with white hose. You like that way? HOw interesting!

Nights
Although I like the atomosphere--slow and mellow, working night is hard to me too. We rotate and I have to work at least 3 nights a month. If you work only night, it might be easier. To me, it's like getting bad jet-lag evey time I work night. It takes 2 days or more to bring myself back to normal. They say I should just take a nap when I get off from night shift, but I get so sleepy when I get off work like not even safe driving home.
