Do you wear makeup?

I wear some mascara and blush or if I'm really in a rush just the mascara. I honestly don't think I'd be hideous without it, but it kind of makes me feel better. I used to wear foundation, but then I realized that it created skin problems and I would go into this pattern of trying to cover up problems on my skin created by wearing foundation all the time. So I ditched it. And now you all have my make-up history. When I worked in a nursing home, it made my patients happy when I looked pretty and made-up so after a while I would do it just for them, even if I didn't really care. I'm not really sure why they liked it, but it kind of reminded me of the way my grandma liked to see me all dressed up. :)

I have been wondering about this for some time now! lol
Does anyone worry about hair/makeup while in school and at clinicals/on the job? It may sound silly for me to ask, but for me, knowing how "dirty" the job can be, it helps me to feel good if I am well groomed. (does that make sense?!)
Anyway, just wondering what your thoughts are on this!

Nope I don't. I may wear a little mascara but thats about it. I keep my hair very short, take a bath evey day, wear clean clothes & deo. that makes me feel clean & well groomed. I am pretty anal about my clothes being ironed would not think about wearing them if their not. So to each her own do what makes you comfortable.

I wear it in moderation, and I will wear it in school, during clinicals, and on the job.

I wear earth tones, so it's not drastic an any way. lol

However, I am growing my bangs out so I can put my hair in a ponytail during clinicals/work and not have to worry about my bangs/hair getting in my face, or anywhere else for that matter. LOL :clown:

At almost 49, not only do I wear makeup(minimal) I pluck and spackle! The most important thing to remember is to appear well groomed, makeup or not! I shows you take pride in what you do.Unfortunately you are judged by your appearance. If you look messy, sloppy, others may percieve that is how you nurse. If appearing well groomed makes you feel good, it probably also helps you feel confident!Just save the sparkley stuff for when you have a life again-after you graduate!

I always try to look my best- the only diff. for work is I don't wear perfume or alot of jewelry. I do try to keep my hair neat & clean & out of my face- when I was in school we had to have our hair off our collars & wear our caps- now I notice nurses have become much more casual in their attire & hair is longer & loose-- I actually like this more than the old white uniform/caps/uptight look of the 80's.........w/in reason of course! :uhoh3:

I always wear some mascara and fill in the blanks in my '70s-tweezed-to-oblivion eyebrows with a little bit of pencil; otherwise I look like the wrath of God. Of course, the signs of aging are beginning to outrun my skill with makeup, and since I've been having power surges, I've stopped bothering with most of the products I used to wear back in my younger days (lipstick, blush and the like). It's just too much work.........and at my stage of life, I'm not gonna fool anyone! :chuckle

Depends, at work and most classes no, since I am coming straight from work.

Anytime I go to an appt, church, out, I do. If I am dealing with the public I would wear it, but only because I dont want to scare anyone! :chuckle

your post reminds me of something my mom once said "Lipstick, powder, rouge, & paint......a girl is mostly what she ain't"

I can't imagine wearing makeup...this is what I look like...no artificial colours. When men are expected to wear makeup everyday too, perhaps Id consider it. Until then its sexist to think I don't look presentable without paint but my male coworkers do. Then again, I think its sexist that I have to wear a top to the beach but men don't. I just want equal standards for grooming and dress...no so much to ask.
