Just curious? Do you talk about allnurses.com at work?

Maybe bring up the funny stories you read? Ask opinions of your colleague about interesting nursing topics you've read here? Maybe even print up articles and share them at work? (hint... hint ;) )

So many users say that they heard about allnurses from their co-worker, I'd like to know how many of you are actually doing it.

For those of you who do tell others about AN, we really appreciate it :bowingpur. Word of Mouth is the best (and cheapest) way to help us grow :tku:

Please take a minute to answer our poll, and please post your feedback :)

I am a student and have mentioned it to a few other students. As far as I know, none of them have visited allnurses.com. It takes a person with initiative and desire to learn and expand horizons to actually take the time to explore this site. That's another reason this site is so valuable! The people using it and offering info are people who are knowledgeable and helpful!

That is my feeling about nursing students and nurses...they need to take the initiative to search things out. I remember finding this on my own by web browsing when I was a student, and I discovered that this is truly a gold mine. I learn more from here than work, many times. I feel this place is my internet family. However, I don't think it is safe (for me-not saying anyone else should feel this way) to mention it to people and insist that they join. I do have one friend who I continously told about it, and she didn't join at all. I just stopped. But I share too much information that can possibly be recognized, and since I am a very private person off the job, so, I want to have peace. I vent here, ask questions, cry here, and all. Also, I am told that I speak the way that I write, so many people may recognize my language and I'd rather not prove it by saying that I am such an avid participant here. It may get back to my supervisor (if she isn't here already).:typing

I am a nurse instructor and refer to this wonderful place regularly and gratefully, that there is a forum like this for all, CNAs and Nurses alike, without regard to levels of educational prep. Thank you.

I don't because I want to stay anonymous. I talk about things at work and don't want to be identified.

strange thing is that no one has ever heard of allnurses....that's at different work places and like when my dh was in the hospital this past week. it really really surprises me. i encourage others to log on and check us out. whether or not they do...i don't know. the only allnurses friend that i personally know is a nurse i met here on allnurses, she posted she was moving to my town (3,000 miles away) i pm'd her, later we met and have been friends since. our spouses are also friends. :typing i love allnurses!

Honestly, no. I work with such a small group of people, and most of the time we get along great ... but I like to come here to vent, read about others' experiences, and share ideas that might be taken the wrong way in our little fishbowl.

But I have talked about AN to nurse friends that I know from school or previous jobs. There's nothing I've posted here that I'd be mortified to attach to my name. The internet isn't all that private, no matter what. Anyone who's spent 15 minutes with me IRL knows how opinionated I am, anyway!

I have mentioned it several times when I thought there was a particularly relevent thread. Never have had anyone say that they've heard of it or use it 'tho. Kind of mystifies me as this is a LARGE (50-60 people), computer-savvy group and the threads I've mentioned haven't been anything inflammatory, just pertinent to specific things we've run into over the months.
