If you have regrets about being a nurse, can't you move onto something that will make you happy? Life is just this once, it cant be spent regretting such a big part of it! And thats what this job is...such a big part of the life you have! all I mean, is if you are unhappy, regretting what you do, then do Anything else that makes you happy! just dont waste your life being miserable on a daily basis!
Me...I Never regret being a Neonatal Midwife, but thats just me..I'm happy and fulfilled in what I do. Hope you all find what floats your boat. luck and Hapiness to all!

No regrets here - never wanted to be a nurse, in fact actively DIDN'T want to be a nurse (my mum is one) - but now I'm in a position where I earn six figures, am well-respected in my job, travel overseas about 6-8 times per year, get to see the best of the best hospitals I'd read about in journals, and count some of the key opinion leaders as friends. All because of my nursing background and skills!
What position do you hold? Is this nurse management? It sounds like the path I'd like to take...please elaborate! :)

I have always wanted to be a nurse. There were days that I sometimes questioned why I became a nurse, and there are days when I brag to everyone that I am a nurse and that my job rocks! It all depends on what kind of day I am having.

Yes, at this point I do. Nursing school is rigorous and expensive. There don't seem to be any nursing jobs left and the ones that are left are pretty crummy. Nurses put up with a high rate of stress, abuse, harassment, and carry a heavy workload.
I really hope that I can change my answer to "NO", soon enough. I am still attempting to be positive and give this field a chance, but the awful reality is that it's so far from what it's portrayed to be.

If I knew what I know now back when I started taking courses, I probably wouldn't have gone into nursing. Yet, I am here in nursing doing the best I can to provide the best care I can. I can't say that I LOVE nursing now but I don't Hate it either. I am getting experience and am hopeful that someday I will find my niche in the nursing field.
I can't change what I have done but I can change what I will do...
But for those who do not like nursing, if at all possible find something you like and go for it...you deserve to be happy!!!

I love every day of being a nurse. It's the most meaningful work I've ever done. I really feel like it's defining me and I really like how.
I am also a man, so I rarely get crap from doctors. If I do, I stand up to them, right then and there, and often get an apology. I do see how ladies get treated a lot of the time, and I can understand that getting crap from patients (literally), and the figurative crap from physicians can be tiring and downright draining.

Sometimes I do regret it, depends on the day. The politics at work certainly get old fast.

I don't know yet, no one has hired me as a new RN yet. But, honestly, I've always been interested in the medical aspect of hospital work and getting my BSN has helped me in my understanding of physical disease. Don't ask why I didn't pursue MD, the way the economy is going I'm actually thinking about going back to school. That's about it. I like reading about drugs, pathology, histology, ect, but as far as gaining a job as an RN and getting trained I'm really frustrated. I've also found most nurses to be very different from myself personality wise. Some are rather catty and respond to hierarchical systems of dominance, but that just comes with the territory I guess.

Never thought I'd say this, but I"m starting to envy people who have office jobs.
At this point sitting in a cubicle, alone, and only dealing with passive-agressive emails by sending my own passive-agressive emails sounds a bit like heaven.
Oh, Humanities, why did you fail me?
