Do you prefer 8 hour or 12 hour shifts?

What would your ideal schedule be like (realistically)?

12hour shifts.

8's, at my age I don't think I can do 12's:confused:

I can work 8-10 but after that it becomes pretty hard to concentrate!

My ideal schedule ......

one 8 hr shift a week LOL

My unit has only 12 hr shifts and everybody loves it. Easier for scheduling also.

8s would be better for my patients, my family, and me :)

12's all the way. I like my time off. My kids like me better too.

i just had a clinical rotation in the ER and one of the nurses worked 9a-7p 4 days a week, rarely any weekends.. i want that one. lol

either hospice nurse salaried 10-12 hours 5 days a week then at least 5 on weekends plus on call all for 50,000 a year sweet deal my employer has huh

12s are ok.

In my perfect world, I'd work 9:30 to 2 (while my daughter is in school) and be off every weekend and holiday. (actually, in my perfect world, I wouldn't work, but whatever.)

I have the ideal schedule now. 3 days on, two days off, then three days on and one day off, then its back to 3 days on with two days off....

Too bad I don't care for this facility or working 3-11 shift.

I prefer 4-10s, but that's not an option. I'm switching from 3 12's to 5 8 hour shifts in a couple weeks and can't wait. As a single parent, its' hard to find someone to take care of the kids before daycare opens and after it closes, so it really works better for us for me to do 8 hour shifts. :)
